Autopot coco issue

Recently I turned off autopot valve to clean after a silicone/nute feed and when I cleaned tanks and set back up plants were really droopy. Actually started a few hours after I shut them off. I use a wave maker after filling res for 18 ish hours then add nutes and turn wave maker off. If I don’t ph rises like our taxes and quite a bit. I mixed some nutes and no silicone and turned them back on. They’re very droopy. 100% coco with canna, cx and sumo and few others. Around 600ppm. Res tank is 5.6ish ph. Also using airdomes. Ladies are just touching pre flower. Had a huge gnat problem out of nowhere maybe 12 days or so ago and used diatomaceous earth and covered with sand. Not sure if that’s an issue. Seemed to work but they weren’t droopy and sad until now. New to coco and synth nutes this round. Temps are 76f and 65RH. As always I appreciate every comment. Happy mammys day as well.

@Myfriendis410 @Ickey I forget who uses autopots and I’m sorry for bothering anyone but this post was dry and they still look feeble.

They look like they are drowning

Definitely look overwatered but not sure why.

@OGIncognito , any ideas on this one?

Thanks for the tag Brother. @Brian384 rare to see a gnat issue with coco. Not a 100% sure but the DE could be contributing. Have you top fead these recently?? Symptoms resemble a root issue. I would also recommend running the wave maker non stop to help with the PH drift :love_you_gesture:

Hey @OGIncognito, I have not top fed since before turning on the valve. I had gnats last run in soil but used only DE and saw them slowly disappear. I even froze my canna coco bags just to kill any that “may” have been in the bags but one day I went in to lst and the coco looked like it was moving their were so many gnats. Also when I used a wave maker last run it seemed to raise ph. Ive accidentally left them on and checked the next day and ph would be 6.1 or so from 5.6ph. I could never keep ph stable last run until I let my water sit for 24hr wavemaker on, turn off, let sit for another few hrs then mix nutes and have had a pretty steady ph. I think my wave maker creates a lot of heat as well. And only turn on when checking ph/adding ph up or down. I did have a hard time keeping ph down when I fed silica. May be in lockout? I usually caught it before it got higher than 6ph so I’d ph down then open the lines to get old water out. Always appreciate the input!

Gnats are a sure sign of overwatering.

How is your pot set up? If you don’t have a layer of Hydroton on the bottom it will wick moisture too quickly and damp off your plant.

I do have a few gnats in my basement. Probably from bringing in plants from outside when it got cold out. Not sure why but I’ve seen them floating around. As a matter of fact I remember freaking out when the seedlings were still under their humidity dome because I saw one flying around in the tent. I don’t have hydroton because I used the airbases with airdomes. And I germinated directly in the 6.6g pots which was kind of a pain because they were big and the seedlings only got watered a few times because there was a lot of water/nutes left in the pots. I’d say I watered to run off maybe 3 times? Top layer was pretty dry before I watered again. They didn’t start looking like this until after I gave silica. They’ve been on the valve for probably 3 weeks now. Thanks @Myfriendis410 always appreciate when you chime in.

Could lockout make them look like this? I thought I did a good job ph’ing because the silica was constantly raising. Maybe I didn’t catch the drifts in time? I must say I do see why people use it. The branches now are harder than woodpecker lips.

Also just noticed today the only one doing well is changing color. Damn.

IIRC when I used air domes I had to layer Hydroton on the bottom 2" followed by the root barrier, then the airdome.

Turn off your liquid feed and see if it perks up. There is no question that what you are seeing is from ‘guarding’ due to roots drowning.

I had an ‘extra’ plant this grow that I could not bring myself to get rid of. So I ordered another Autopot tray and added it to my grow. It immediately started to evidence the same posture your plant has. As I was in fabric bags (much preferred over air domes) I just took another 3 gallon fabric pot (empty) and added 2" of Hydroton to the bottom then slipped it over the other pot like a sock. It’s currently one of the largest plants in my grow.

Yea I actually have hydroton but ended up getting the airbases instead. Eliminates the need for the hydroton. I think I will shut them down for a while like you mentioned. They haven’t done this before. Even last grow in soil I would give a day or two dry period while tanks got cleaned, filled etc. I do see the only plant that wasn’t affected is in lockout. I really don’t want to flush being I put 1.5in of sand on top to keep the gnats out. As I think back I had a problem last grow where they got droopy and I gave them a dry period which they did get better but immediately had ph issues and it locked out as well. Always something. Thanks

Well, here’s mine as of Sunday:

The plant in question is in the far left back next to the fan. It’s almost touching the lights.
