Autoflower hydroponic grow preflowering at 9 days

I really needed to ask this question. This was my first attemp at hydroponics as well as Autoflower. @ 9 days the Autoflower started preflowering and within 12 days as soon as I opened the tent the smell would hit me in the face. I threw the plant out because I felt I did something wrong. I did not understand this. Could someone tell me why this was happening so soon?

Idk if I’ve ever heard of one starting to flower that quickly. That may be a new record. But autos do whatever they want to do. We have no control over when they start to flower. Another seed from the same batch could start flowering in eight weeks. For the most part they start flowering around 4-5 weeks in. My advice is germinate another one and give it another try.

The lack of control is why I plan on switching over to photos as soon as I use up all, maybe most, of the auto seeds I’ve accumulated. I’d like to have more time to train them and start flowering when I’m ready.

I didn’t want to buy I didn’t have enough room. It was super lemon haze. This thing smelled amazing. I kept it for about 17 days it was starting to flower like crazy but I didn’t understand how.

Autos can be crazy frustrating but take another stab at it!!

Always SEEK information BEFORE making a rash decision!!! That could have been BOM material!!!

Sounds like an eager autoflower.

@Fiz and @duhneese can lament about autos trying to auto much too soon.

I have a runty right now flowering at right around 22 days. It’s not unusual to see them just kinda go whenever they feel like it. Dunno why.

I am attempting autoflowers for the first time. I have 4 Yeti Weddings from Graysin Farm. I stressed them way too much and all started flowering at 6ā€ tall. Now that I am retired, I can take much better care of the next autos I drop.

Yeah, early autos, good grief! My most famous flowered at 16 days - I wasn’t expecting hedgehogs that soon and missed when the preflower happened. This was my first plant, so didn’t know what I was looking at, honestly.

She ended up around 19 inches tall, and yielded 2.25 oz of some pretty fine weed. My second one of the same strain didn’t get much bigger, and yielded about the same despite flowering in a more normal time frame.

So I don’t toss out runty autos. I did end up with one that was a tiny little thing, 5 inches tall and only couple of grams. I only grew her out because I had plenty of space to sneak her into.

You never know with autos, but I’m a big believer in don’t give up, as I think @Graysin can vouch, having suffered with me through both my grows.

Same way my granddaughter is terrifying me by standing up on her own at age 6 months. Some things are just precocious. I always assume it’s a sign of greatness!

Hi strangers! I’ve been hiding out… Enjoying the fruits of my labor I guess you could say. I just cut down the BB photo that was growing outside. I had brought it inside to the tent once everything else was finished in there. So it finished up in there and never really did much. I never weigh any of mine bc it’s all just for me and I don’t really care but I guess I should stay just to have an idea of how I did…lol. I have to clean up that plant I took down last night and get it jarred up. I bought the grove bags but I swear I still smell the burned smell and even after all the cutting in the grove bags I still smell it so I went back to jars and I don’t smell it as bad. My friends don’t smell it like I do though so I guess it’s just me.

So since I have plenty to do me for a while, (I think I have 5 decent plants worth in jars) that is if I quit giving it all away lol, I decided to go back to an auto again. I’m going to try two more LSD autos. I just can’t give up on em! They smoke so good! The taste and the buzz are amazing! I’m hoping I’ll be a little more prepared this time for the quick flower! And if it doesn’t work, then I’m ok and can go back to the BB photo in the spring.

So, I just got the seeds out, been cleaning and alcohol-ing out the tent and all the lights and every surface in the tent to get ready to drop seed tomorrow and begin the journey tomorrow or maybe even tonight. So heads up! I’m back to begin all the questions again! I’ve missed you guys and gals!!!

Still unfortunately recovering from that damn wreck and dealing with lawyers and the bulldsh!t so I need the distraction!

I hope everyone had a marva-lous holiday season and the new year is treating you all grand!

Happy growing y’all! I’m so glad to ā€˜see’ y’all!!!

Don’t I know it. I grew an LSD and my wife smoked through most of it (granted there wasn’t much) in about a week.

That’s an absolute drag. As a lawyer I can say lawyers are no fun to deal with :joy:

We’re glad to see ya back. It’s always a warm fuzzy feeling when someone returns to the fold
