I’m only growing 1-2 plants each grow, so the NFTG isn’t so much of a hassle. I enjoy the process or mixing and feeding, my garden zen time as I live in a NYC apartment.
Thanks for the compliments, btw. Very encouraging to read, especially being a novice grower (of cannabis).
You’re doing a fine job , keep us posted .
Welcome to the neighborhood. They are great looking ladies. Have fun and Happy Harvest ![]()
2 grows… grow 1 had 4 plants. All between 10.5 to 12.5 weeks
Grow 2 in the cold basement also 4 plants. Between 12.1 to 14.5 weeks
I have a question for you …rather than flush why not just stop feeding nutes the last 2 weeks ? And give it plain water to runoff instead…
Something scares me about running so much water through the roots and seems like over kill to do it …idk maybe it’s just me and not trying to say what anyone does or doesn’t do is right or wrong …
I grew 2 outdoors last year for the first time and got 10 dry oz total after cure
I fed it FF trio ,cal mag ,the three water soluble FF bloom boosters …but just stopped about 2 weeks before …and when I knew I was going to harvest in the next few days gave it nothing not even water …
I loved the herb …it wasn’t harsh at all no chemical fertilizer flavor …so idk …I’m just curious if anyone else stops feeding and skips flushing . I think the 2 or so weeks of plain water till runoff is accomplishing the same result and the plant using whatever is left to feed itself …
Idk I’m stoned and a dumb noob too tho…lol
Sorry if reading this creates a situation where those few minutes of your life are gone forever now …
Peace
@Lacewing the final flush is exactly what you described. No nutes, regular watering and your gonna cause them to deplete anything stored within them.
Got ya …I’ve just read that when you flush …you run like a good deal of water through the plant in one shot …scares me to death …it probably shouldn’t because people do it with good results …I like my way better hahaha …I also only grow outdoors and maybe that’s part of it …indoors is really alien to me and I think more difficult…maybe it’s necessary in that situation…I’ll find out eventually because it’s only a matter of time until I splurge on an indoor setup
@Lacewing like 60-70% of the conversation in here is indoor growers sharing. You know outdoor is much different. After ground saturation any additional water is run off and you can’t truly starve a plant in the wild. She’s free to reach out and absorb whatever her roots find. She eats whatever she wants like a free range chicken
. But denying her our supplements and keeping her hydrated enough to stay functional as the cold nights set in force her to panic in the way an annual does at the end of their run. She wants pollen desperately. Hence she flowers harder. Win for you.
I start counting “flower weeks” at first site of multiple calyx development.
But honestly, I go by what the plant says.
I’ll use the times given in the back of my mind.
But I’m looking for bugd to have little to no white hairs left, most or all have turned dark and are curled back not sticky up straight anymore (ignoreing any foxtails or fresh growth here and there that may have fresh new hairs sticking out)
At this point I know im getting close.
Typically this falls within the time given.
Then im focusing on my trichomes (the ripening stage)
Like this plant is about 6 weeks into flower.
Notice this buds hairs are standing up mostly.
They should have 3weeks left or little more.
But the hairs will appear to shorten and curl back as the bud continues to grow.
It’s been almost 3 weeks. Thought I’d update. She’s starting week 10 and I’d say about 5-10% amber tricomes. My gut says I should be harvesting at the end of the week. I don’t have a good set up for close photos, so pardon that omission. I’ll update again at harvest and after a few weeks of cure.
Is that 10 weeks of flowering?
It looks like they have a couple weeks to go still a lot of white pistols?
Yes, 10 weeks of flower. Had a recent pop of new growth/pistols, but I’m keeping an eye on her tricomes. I’m not dead-set on harvest at the end of the coming week, that’s just my guesstimate. She’ll let me know.
I wanted add, few times when I’ve got an explosion of new growth towards the end and that growth be really tightly packed pistols like more then normal, they was always accompanied by nanners
.
Hope thats not the case but im sure you’ll see tjem if so…
Looks goid though ![]()
Hmmm. I didn’t know that term. Just did a little reading up on nanners, now I’m concerned. Seems like there isn’t anything to do if they develop, unless I missed something in my reading. Any thoughts or input you can help me out with?
Hopefully if they do its just a spot or two and you can just pluck or cut them out.
If its nanners everywhere then not alot ya can do. Try to pluck them out or consider harvesting early if its close to time.
It really depends when they pop up and how bad is it.
