That is the main that’s 5 ft it’s stretching for sure, most is about 4 ft which is the same as my only outdoor grow, I like the idea of LED lighting so I’m thinking of the 1000w for my next indoor winter grow, I can use the 600w to get a start in the spring before going outside, my friend said to use metal halide and forget LEDs, any idea from what you see is this one a goner and virtually useless?
No way she just ain’t gonna produce a bunch of hard nuggets, but it will get you high!
Before you bye a light give us a yell, if you are going to bye one!
Ok I’ll certainty put out the word here for lighting, I’ve read some here but I’m going to keep on looking for topics that will hopefully make my next grow better, the site said the 600w was perfect for 1 plant but lesson learned that it is not, I have been with these girls everyday feeding, trimming (big fan leaves) and watching so I’m sure she will be good to me, maybe small nugs but better then nothing
I’m going to keep an eye on trichomes and determine when it’s ready, I’ll post final pictures so others can see where I went wrong, mostly lighting imo
Do you have a pic. of the label on you 600? Make sure you are looking at the bud and not the sugar leaves, the sugar leaves will amber before they are ready!
I did 18/6 vegetation and 20/4 at budding, I didn’t follow the light schedule since it’s an auto
You NEED a good light man, that VS is only 95 watts!
Indeed!!
Thats what the spec sheet says! I went their web site!
I agree it’s a mistake I didn’t do more research on it plus my first inside grow and didn’t read up much, if I found a 1000w or more am I able to pair it with the 600w I have to make it 1600w? or is mine a paperweight after this grow, my problem is space and HPS heat so I really need to stay with LEDs until I build a room in the basement
I appreciate you taking your time and your input here
Go to Horticulture Lighting Group dot com and check out what they have, you will like what you see! When they say 260W that is pretty much right and it is good efficient light!
Ok thanks again
You are welcome man, I bought 3 Vipar Spectras when I started, they are the 600 reflector series and they pull 267w. I still use them for veg! There are another couple million people bought something similar, so it is like a growing pain!
@ToastedBuffalo we have all been there and done that! My first light was just rubbish, I’ve upgraded to a HLG600R and you can almost watch the girls grow! Welcome to the forums
I started with even smaller blurple off of amazon and once I joined here I was informed and than purchased me the 1000w Digital dimmable ballast with HPS and MH bulb for like 130 bucks…but I was and am able to use the heat it produces to my advantage since I built my grow rooms in my unfinished portion of my basement. No worries brother you have managed to grow a plant in your first setup which is more than some can say so know this is a W for you @ToastedBuffalo and learning really comes from making the mistake and as we grower’s know this is Never done when it come’s to Growing…constantly learning and improving and building off of OUR experiences…you got this Bro!
I am going to keep learning here, I’m liking the HLG600R suggestion, you get out of it what you put into it has been said, I enjoy every aspect of growing and the harvest, if anything I do have the curing process down I feel, my summer grow I still burp occasionally after 3 months
Thanks for the light suggestions, I added a 1000w LED my friend wasn’t using, also a spectra, to my existing 600w LED, it’s only been 4 days so no real noticable difference, I’m 3 days short of 12 full weeks on this af northern lights but I have tons of white hairs but no buds I can see, I am still only using tiger bloom twice a week, I understand autos bud when they want but has anyone been about 12 weeks and only white hairs and how much longer and final product bud wise?
TB: Be patient. Your “girls” look pretty good. With this grow, you seem to be dealing with the outcome of a weak lighting system, which you are upgrading.
One thing that might help you is to get an inexpensive close up camera to examine your trichomes up close. Here is a photo from a couple of weeks ago from my auto Bubblicious in week ten. This am, I re-shot the photo and I saw a few amber trichomes beginning to emerge.
This plant is only 14" tall, has one 8’ long cola (4" across at the base) and 12 other buds that are getting denser jay the day.
Oh, and I too am re-examining my light sources from comments on another thread.
