I did an outdoor over the summer getting a small 2 week plant, replanted into a larger 5 gallon pot and used miracle grow, as soon as your done laughing please read on lol no idea of the strain but it was autos, I got some real nice size cola’s and harvest at 12 weeks after flushing, I hung dry for 5 days and into jars, I did some things right but ended up with unbelievably pretty decent smoke but buds were airy, I don’t want the same results since I handed some out and freinds looked at the buds like they had leprosy. Fast forward I started a northern auto seed in water and waited for the drop then wet paper towels until I had a root 3mm or so, poked a pencil in fox farms soil and with tweezers carefully dropped it root down about a 1/2" and lightly covered with soil, I used a must spray for a week and then got anxious and poured water in it and it tipped over, replanted it and at about 12" tall drenched it and came back an hour later and it’s leaning over so I got a stick and tied it up packing done dirt around it, now at 52 days these are the pics so I’ve been very lucky this strain is so resilient, my goal is to go 12 weeks but I am familiar with the chromes getting cloudy and amber as I used that strategy for my outdoor grow, with everything said so far my biggest concern is not having airy buds again, I hope it’s a good smoke but I’m a lightweight and sleeping usually 30-45 minutes afterwards so I only indulge at night, my other question is I used grows big 4th week on and added tiger Bloom at 35 days, the feeding schedule they show is to run to the 12 week but my intentions were to start flushing at about 70 days depending on what these look like so maybe sooner or maybe later, I started my own post since I read many many threads and didn’t want to step in in someone else’s and take over in a sense with my chronicles, it’s about 4 feet and in a homemade grow box with spectra 600w led white lights with red/blue, sorry for the novel but I felt details were important
Shes looking good
Thank you!! I was hoping readers felt it was inline timewise but I cant take much credit as I read for days on here for anything I could to do things best I could, I know how I felt with a huge cola mustache from my outdoor grow as a joke, it was hard to decide when to cut her down she looked so good, these girls put a smile on my face and keep me grounded after a busy day working
I suggest upgrading your light(s) to prevent airy buds. Stronger light = solid buds.
I’m up for any suggestions so the 1000w possibly or something all together? I read the 600w is ok for one plant but what do I know as a beginner
Let me Get you the Light guru @dbrn32 he can help you find the best light for your space and budget. I have a 1000 watt MH/HPS with a dimmable ballast but I am also able to control the temps that come with using this style light because I have dedicated grow rooms I built in my basement. dbrn32 will be along soon to help you with light suggestions good luck and if you need anything else just @ me! Good Luck!
Welcome to the community @ToastedBuffalo
I wanted to add I didn’t see anything on the guide lines or if it’s against the grain to add what I use to grow, I’m not promoting any items I used, these were just my choices and as I read further I suspect I will put together suggestions and decide on final products for my next grow
Good attitude , I don’t use anything from my first setup except the tent and I’m about to toss it too.

Thanks to all replies up to now, I didn’t want to jump in with a load of questions but my plant grows like crazy both ways, my lights have been as close as 15" and have read not here but 16-18" the manual I believe said 22-26" ?? It’s at 18" right now and I have white tipped leaves, leaves that are further down have a little then down to all green so I answered my own question it’s to close, I’m interested in thoughts on height with the spectrum 600w, I also have read varying procedures on 18/6 or 20/4 for vegetation, 12/12 for flowering this auto, the close up is the top flower and a few inches down on the other
Since it is an auto you don’t need 12/12 lighting and you would be better off with 18-6 or even 20-4 if you choose to get your daily light interval. The more light you can give it the better the buds will be. Greenflex is correct about lighting. It is critical for dense bud development. Can you take a pic of the label on your light so we can see what you are working with, then the experts can chime in.
How big is your grow box and what is the actual model of light? Most are not what they try to make look like, and your space seems to be a little underpowered by looking at node spacing on your plants.
@fast-grow The specs say 12-16" for flowering stage and 12/12 schedule but it’s all generic and not specific for autos, I feel thats to close and why my leaf tips are turning white fluctuating between 15-18" even
I had to wait to send this until today after I reached my reply limit for the level I’m at, here is a picture of the lights manual and model #, @dbrn32 my grow box is 30" X 30" X 72" i am somewhat concerned about the node spacing as I’ve read I could end up with airy buds something I had on my summer outdoor grow.Sounds accurate, their listing says it’s about a 100 watt light. That’s a little small for your space. In my experience outdoor buds are usually a little more airy than indoor grown in a good setup. So nothing surprising there.
I welcome any suggestions on if I should get a 1000w LED I can receive in days, my plant will be 8 full weeks in 3 days, also thoughts on the height of the light, If you feel going to the brighter light at this stage isn’t going to make a difference then I will complete this girl with the p600 and turn it into a bright garage light, I’m going to take all the advice I can get for my second grow on a possibly completely new set up
Update: my af northern lights are at almost 5ft tall and 3 1/2 ft wide, it is at 10 weeks now and lots of little buds but not much change in size thou, I stopped grows big a few weeks ago and only use tiger Bloom twice a week while keeping the water ph at 6.5, humidity 55-60% and room temp 70 degrees, I don’t feel this will be ready for harvest in 2 weeks looking at it, anyone have a guess at how much longer? Light is a spectra 600w, I wish I started with the 1000w or something all together but for this grow it’s what I have to work with, I feel like this will not turn out as expected or very tiny bud
Next grow you should do some topping and with a better light there will be a big difference! How tall is that “auto”?
About 5 foot tall
Seems tall for an auto, but …? Have you looked into lighting yet, any ideas?
