I’m a very new to growing as this is my first grow I potted my seed in pure coco not realizing that coco doesn’t drain very well should I transport asap or wait a week or two and yes I added holes to the bottom of the container
Coco drains faaaar better than soil. When growing in coco, you have to feed your plants every single time you water. If you are using plain, expandable coco then you have to expand it with feed water, not plain. Also, when feeding, your solution needs to be pH’ed between 5.8-6.0.
For the first few days above ground, you can use a clear solo cup, or something similar, as a humidity dome. Spritz the inside of the cup once or twice with distilled or RO water, then place over seedling.
When should I start adding nutes?
What did you expand your coco with?
Just normal tap water
Most coco coir, is just that, coco coir. Nothing else. When you expand it, you have to use nutrient water that has been properly pH’ed. Meaning for new seeds, you mix a gallon of nutrients, expand your coco with it, then plant depending on germination method.
Coco should only be given plain water if you are having pH/ppm issues. And then the water still needs to be in proper pH range.
After planting your seeds and they have sprouted, very little water/feeding is needed, as they are putting roots down, and doing a little more work below the surface than on top. For the first couple/few days the humidity dome will be fine. No feeding necessary. But after a few days, it’s full strength feeding, every watering.
Any nutes you would recommend
