Im new to growing and i read somewhere on here bout doing that layering thing not sure if it was the forum or one of the guides, and it sounded like a plan to me lol,i think the perlite makes a difference as well, at the moment you can really see the size difference more so after those pics were taken oh and mine started in seedling starter as well my friends didnt @AmnesiaHaze

I’ve heard of people doing this I have not tried it the later got soil under starter soil so when root grow out they meet hot soil just about when they need to start being fed nutes

Hey babe I’m in sunny Qld and am going to order some seeds tomorrow - thinking White Widow Fem from what Robert has said (idiot proof for a first timer). Still have a while of crazy heat and high temps until things starts to cool down (although it’s pretty much summer here 365 days a year)

Yeah thats why we went with the white widow too lol, best of luck x. i actually measured mine to see how much it grows in a week lol. I have no idea if im doing things right sorta reading and winging it, but it seems to be going great guns so far. Oh and welcome x

I was wondering if one of you lovely people could explain pH runoff for me please @ktreez420 @Coltfire @Hogmaster @Countryboyjvd1971 @AmnesiaHaze. I understand the acid and alkalie and the actual scale. I dont know what the actual runoff should be testing as, should it be the same? and if its lower or higher than what you put in whats that mean and what do you need to do about it. Or if there is a thread about it already point me in that direction.

I water till I have run off then I collect run off sample and test it
This will tell you ph range of soil and you can then ad just water ph higher or lower depending on what your soil is at
It may come out higher or lower than what you put in adjust accordingly

yep i checked the run off last time and it was lower, i had added some seasol and power feed, but when i checked the soil the next day it was back up to what it usually is which is about 6.8 (thats tested with a probe, it does change cause ive tested it on different soils). She looks healthy and happy at the moment, next time i just water i will check the runoff again and see what that it

@deb1, those probes are not that reliable unfortunately. Jump on the buy sites we have here and lot k for the right pH tester Im sure one of the others can and will jump in and tell you what one you should get , there not very much

The importance of testing runoff is for both testing the pH of your root zone, while also testing the PPM of nutrients in the soil.
If you water with 6.5 water, with 400 PPMs and your runoff is tested at 5.0 pH and 800 PPMs, then you can conclude that your root zone is acidic and should be brought up, while it also is showing signs of nutrient build up, and may need a flushing.
If PPMs went from 400 in, to 200 out, then you can conclude that your plant is eating as she should be, so you could potentially up the feeding if you wanted.
Both pH and PPM are really important to know when growing in soil, so I would recommend getting this technique down so you can grow the healthiest of plants.

Week four of my young girls life, she is going amazing, little bit of burn on a lower leaf because i gave her nutes to early, luckily it was only half a mil in a litre of water, but i have been keeping an eye on it and its not getting worse. Powering above my friends at the moment, not sure if thats a good or bad thing right now his is starting to get bigger now. would i be able to add more soil to the edge of the lip on the pot and if i did would it hurt to add worm castings, would that give it the N it needs till flowering? she is about 31cm/12inches
