The clones in the clone king still look as good as the picture, and today is the 16th, I put them in on the 13th. Of course, I sort of wonder how they can keep on going on without a lot of nutrition, I might end up foliar feeding(spraying water with a very low amount of nutrients dissolved). I mean, you see some of the larger clone branches are rather large, and I didn’t feel the need to clip leaves in half, as it stands now, I don’t think I have to, and foliar feeding could give me the edge on keeping them looking good till roots show and ready to plant, which could be two weeks worth, I have no experience to know if it could be more than two weeks for the larger cuttings. Then I have to rig up a small setup a short time after that to mimmick 12/12 to see if a few of the samples are still female, and that stresses didn’t metamorphisize to hermi or worse, male. Unsure about the male thing, I noticed a person with hydroponic and previously stressed plants ended up with some female to male conversions.
This is an update on my cloner…
So a few days ago I checked on my cloner. I noticed that the two end misters were not only pouring water more like a fountain but also turned inside to each other and only 180 degree misters where as it was advertised as 360 degree misters. I emailed the store, took them a few days to get back to me but they were very apologetic and offered to replace them. I think they’re like 20 cents each but I have an appreciation for companies that stand behind their product.
Secondly, I checker my basil today wnd every plant I attempted to clone has begun growing roots. 100% percent roots. Now I am going to transplant into peat pucks maybe in another day or two or after the roots are 4-5cm long. But who cares this test was to test the cloner and not about growing basil. However I yhink basil is a pretty easy to grow plant.
And I also want to say that the basil was under no fluorescent light. i user some rootech gel. It got a little bit of of sunlight but barely any maybe an hour a day and some incandescent from far away. I just barely dipped the ends of the basil in the rootech but roots are forming all the way to the neoprene pucks, or to where the water can no longer reach the stem.
I would post pictures but my phone is being dumb.
I should check the progress of my clones, it is like the 21st, and they have been in since the 13th, that is like 8 days. Some of the minor leaves on the larger stems started turning yellow and dying, I almost wonder if it had something to do with foliar feeding, but those stems are way large and only an experiment to try to clone larger stems, that supposedly do in about two weeks. I haven’t checked spray patterns or clogging of the nozzles since I first saw them work right upon testing brand new, I figured since the plants weren’t dying or flopping over that they all were getting misting, but of course, I didn’t add in any rooting hormone either, since my instructions didn’t call for doing so, saying it was not needed.
I am going to cut some basil right above the first node, and try cloning the top piece and see if the bottom half, with roots already will continue to grow.
Another note; my basil was cut at a shaky 45 degree angle with a kitchen knife. And again just tap water + small amount of rootech rooting hormone.
Budbd, is your cloner loud? Mine sounds like a small stream running in my house…or a horse taking a piss.
I checked my progress, and about half of the clones have root growth, and the others it was hard to determine. Strangely, there was lots of progress to note with some of the larger stems, I almost wonder if I didn’t score with a blade deep enough with a lot of the smaller stems. I ended up adding a hydroponic additive liquid called “revive” which is 1% nitrate and a few minor other nutrients, to give me the edge of success.
Most of the roots I observed were rather short. I sort of worry my kitchen floor/dining area is still too cold, I mean, there is the portable air conditioner in there I run a lot these days, but there is the warmth from the submerged pump a person would have to worry about in a ultra warm room, so who know, in another weeks I will know for sure.
I believe the instructions does say something about “several weeks”, I mean, I am glad I am seeing a lot of rooting on half of them, I just wished I had more roots. I’m also glad I ordered that “revive” hydroponic rescue nutrient, even though I aint doing hydroponic growing.
My cloner doesn’ sound lound, I can hear it running like a running water sound, I had to add some water today since some of it got “used”.
You sure have a way of putting things. “Like a horse taking a piss” lmao . Any way sounds like you two have this clonning thking down and. You both like your your new toy. I just mite buy one myself but for now what I have dose just fine.

Yea it’s pretty cool. I mean for me it was effortless really, I just put them in there and waited. The light these things got was terrible. I don’t know if light is important when the plants are trying to root or not. But I would think if you put it under a fluorescent or MH they would do better. I was trying to do some testing on the rootech gel, I would like to know if the gel is absorbed into the plant or just effects the skin cells so to speak. I got some researching to do. I hear a lot of people say that they gave equal success w/ and w/ out it. I only wish these were my MJ clones…I am lost as far as that goes.
Hell. Iem still learniing we all r learning sports don’t you feel bad about all your plants look awesome and they discreet that way by them selves.
Any way I harvest next Sunday if all is good can’t wait

The weak solution of “Revive” I put in the cloner definitely made the young “clonelings” look better, darker green leaves, it is good stuff, cause before I added some, there were leaves that were starting to die off on various clonelings, mostly on the larger stemmed cloning starts. Revive bottle says it can even be used as a foliar spray additive. I mean, I aint touting one brand, what I am saying is it might be great to add in something similar of any brand.
Plus, another additional fact, checked the status of my clones, today is the 23rd, and they all have been in since the 13th. I discovered that the most cloneable stems are larger “branches”, basically all large branches, those that were like more than six to eight inches long, a couple are about twelve inches long, mature stuff, all have roots now, ALL LARGE STEMMED. The most resistant are the smaller ones. I ended up trying to score a deeper score slice on some of the smaller stems not rooting yet, and two of them I had to recut the bottom off cause they seemed to be dying off there at the cut, clones off my strongest plant. I can actually plants some clones, will have to get busy in the next few days. I mean, my Southern Oregon Coastal weather for several days is COLD, WET, Windy, and the home in places stays very cold. I am betting that my weather is very similar to The Netherlands.
Quick update. So the basil clones that rooted, I cut them in half and stuck the top half in there. And then moved the bottom half into a peat puck in the window sill. The ones that were moved have roots coming out of the peat and the top halfs are showing signs of roots. Not sure how long it has been, but I have been too busy to really keep track of them. I did change out the water though (spilled like a gallon onto my carpet. ![]()
Another interesting update, …it is August, around the 25th, and in the past month, I had trouble using my clone king, where I had some cutting from over elongated mothers, and the clones kept on rotting, but I may have tracked down the mistake, where I introduced “revive” supplemental/emergency sustaining nutrient right off with the water when they were fresh. I kept on rotting clones repeatedly, even from a healthy super skunk plant. Well, anyway, I stopped using tap water that might have been too acidic, where I used distilled water originally, and I stopped using revive until I see roots. So far, I don’t think I will have bad luck, cause I used fresh cuttings of super skunk, and some cuttings of clones of white widow, and all look okay. I even was able to save some of my original rotting stem cuttings, after I cut them three times for the cloner I stuck those older tries into soil, and a few of them made it, including the super skunk starts, I mean, good thing those older ones were long otherwise there wouldn’t have been anything left. So far so good for the cloner after this run of catastrophe, and using brand new foam insert collars just in case. I mean, I had bleached the cloner and let the bleachy water stand with the older foam collars submerged for twelve hours, then the same with clean water.
At one point, I got scared, like I needed more clones, but nothing was working. I made four cutting clones stuck in foxfarm soil for my neighbors, with their foxfarm soil, and they kept them alive, in a lower cupboard with old style flourescent grow light tubes above, and a week later one flopped over given direct sunlight inb a window but perked back up in the cupboard with flourescents, so one super skunk plant is getting me and some friends lots of starts, or at least it seems so. So technically, I was able to do those four I gave away properly, cut stem at 45 degree angle, single shallow cut on lower stem, dipped in rooting hormone powder, put in soil, lightly watered and continued watered by them with distilled—then bottled clean drinking water out of a gallon jug. Right now, I have about six super skunk cuttings in the clone king, and three that appear to have made it after numerous rotten stems as mentioned in one solo cup, so if lucky, that will be nine living clones. My friends are just absolutely crazy about super skunk from the past, they like smoking it, and it pays to help them grow their own, haha, cause well, I don’t want to focus exclusively on white widow and super skunk, I mean, I have my eye on some seeds sold here of some other strains that interest me,
Ya budbd, I to use larger clippings and now I have great success.
It’s all a learning experience.

Oh, when I went back to using the machine, I did indeed use large cuttings of course. I really believe the revive nutrient I added at the moment of insertion of fresh cuttings, plus using acidic tap water is what was tripping me up. When I think of it, previously I had added revive nutrient after weeks of cuttings in the cloner, and was afraid they were looking sick then on my first batches.
But anyway, I am hoping my plain distilled watered recent cuttings are not rotting, they look okay, which is a good indication. When they would start to rot on the stems, that is when the leaves would flop over limp. I mean, I could do with those six super skunk cuttings, …I see me, some super skunk around christmas, and “super skunk christmas cookies”,…yummy. Maybe a super skunk fruit cake!..especially, in winter, my pain problems are at the top levels, makes the holiday seasons real hard to put on a fake smile, maybe with some medicated cookies or fruitcake, them smiles will be like real, and keeping it real!
You really need to get a PH pen I got one from Amazon it was 9 or 10 bucks. I was useing tap water at first till I got my ph pen. My tap water is about 7.5 or just a bit higher. You can buy ph up ph down to get it right where you want it. I have a 50 gal. Tank that I ph it so I don’t have to keep messing with it. Them ph pens are great.

I hear that brother. My girl is very sick and is always in a lot of pain.
I have been growing White Widow for her for some time now just for her. She swear’s by it.
All my clones are WW 5th generation
I’ll start another 30 or so in Sept. I
Use a plastic tub 14x24x6" deep
And he water has Liquid Thrive 1/2tsp , Root Stimulator 1/2 tsp and hydrogen peroxide 1 tsp I soak my Rockwood in while I take clones and put them it also. I then remove excess water from Rockwood and put root starter powder in the. Hole take a clone and rub in the powder and place in Rockwood then in its new home. In about 8 days I have clones with roots.

I almost forgot about foliar feeding, for clones without enough roots yet, so I used the revive as listed on the bottle for foliar feeding, 3ml per liter, so I used a 2 liter pop jug, and 6ml, for my fresh cuttings and those likely without enough roots in soil.
So I have 21 plants I started from seed. I was going to top all of them after the 6th node or so. With the tops I trim I was going to try and clone all of them. The once they take root flower all the clones and find out which are male or female dump the males and continue with my females only. I am writing bc I wanted to ask what’s the best cloning powder to use, best way to trim for clones, and exactly what should I plant them in for best clone results?
