This is the only plant out of 10 that is curling leaves in this fashion.
I can’t find any bugs or parasites.
I water by observation. (If it looks Idry water it)
What do you think?
Thanks
What are your temps like in your area?
Usually heat stress
Yea, I’m in Arizona and yes it’s pretty darn hot.
Should I rig some sort of shade?
Thank you sir. I’ll figure out some sort of shade
Hello, Ryan, the temps have been fairly consistent at between 95 and 100.
We are at 5500’ elevation.
I was hoping that the condition was not some sort of nutrient burn. I experimented with enhanced DYI potting media this year
Those temps, consistently, can certainly cause a few issues. It doesn’t look much like nutrient burn. You usually see burnt tips, or clawing with hot soil or nutrients. The canoeing and kinda windy appearance look more of a high heat sitch. At 5,500ft the rh is probably a little lower.
I feel some plants handle intense heat better than others. Maybe try and rig up some kinda sun shade for the hottest few hours of the day.
Best of luck.
@Dirtsurgeon Im in Az at 5000ft I try to have a green zone around my plants. I grow in the ground. Mj can handle high heat if you can keep the root zone cool. If you’re growing in pots or bags the roots can get super hot in the sun. I try to provide some shade during the day but I usually have a few growing that never get shade but the ground around them is covered in clover or buckwheat.
Interesting Plumb. I definitely don’t have much of a green belt going on around my containers. Going to work on making some sort of covering.
It seems odd that it’s only one plant
What area do you live in Az
Seligman area.
Off grid
Gotcha Im in Prescott valley @W.B.elpaso is a little closee to you. He also grows in a greenhouse
Nice.
I don’t have a greenhouse but I do grow in containers
What color are the containers. If they are black you should find a way to shade the containers. You dont necessarily need to shade the plants just the containers.
Haa…well of course they’re black.
I think your theory is spot on. It never occurred to me that it could be problem.
Making shade today, lol.
Thanks for the input
Youre welcome. What kind of containers are you using. How big are they? You might be able to plant some clover or some other cover crops in them. Im using buckwheat for two of my plants and clover on the other five. Check out @W.B.elpaso 's greenhouse. Hes got some nice cover crop going. https://global.discourse-cdn.com/growingmarijuana/original/4X/3/4/d/34dde30fe8b44fa91358459689cd851b4886b228.jpeg
@Dirtsurgeon im in paulden. Yup, looks like some wind/heat stress. Wind is a killer, even worse when its hot as its been. Shade those pots and try to keep em out of harsh winds.
I grew in 30 gallon fabric pots out here. I went in ground this year. You gotta water everyday, sometimes twice a day or i had too anyway. When they get big.
I use shade fabric, amazon, to help block wind out here. Wind is terrible were we are so you gotta be pro active. That shade fabric comes in bulk rolls that are a good value. Tough stuff too
Thanks, guys. Great suggestions.
My containers are good sized used by the cattle ranchers out here for some sort of cattle nutrients.
I don’t trust putting the plants in the ground as I’m constantly battling voles and gophers in my vegetable garden.
The wind/shade fabric will be going up tomorrow. I do like them to get some wind movement as I think it encourages a strong root system.
Everything in moderation of course.
I also keep the pots free of other plant growth. (DOH!!!) Lesson learned.
Other than that everything seems reasonably healthy.
The suggestions are greatly appreciated and will become common practice from here on out.
Happy growing.
