Anybody used a dehydrator for drying?

I dehydrate fresh fruits and vegetables. My dehydrator is “gentle” - not very warm.
Could this be used to dry fresh buds?

Any anectdotes of experience with this are welcome

Might dry too quick, could be harsh. Too warm you lose terpenes. Slow dry in a controlled environment is best. I shoot for 70F and 60rh for 7 days. I can raise the humidity if they’re drying too quickly. Ive never used a dehydrator. Last year I used a shed for most of it. I also used a refrigerator to dry some and a freezer too.
I might work though if you keep an eye on it and make sure you’re not drying too fast.

Dry to fast and hard and you evaporate the terps and get hay flavored buds, it’s literatilly impossible to over dry if your dry room is set to ~60%rh you just skip from drying to curing while it’s still hanging

I’ve done it a few times, mine I can trun down under 100* and let it rock overnight. Not the best option but a fast one if your in need :metal:

You could trial it with a small amount of flower and see what the out come will be thats the best way and if it doesnt turn out that good u can make oil or cannabutter with that small amount of flower you try

Back in the day, buddy of mine got a hold of some freshly cut weed. We couldn’t get it to stay lit, so we tried drying it in the oven, but switched to the microwave when that wasn’t happening fast enough. :laughing: It did end up tasting like hay.

Yeah I’ve used a food dehydrator for drying bud, back in the days of not growing enough bud to last til next harvest and always looking for quick dry methods.

Microwave is much quicker, can take a fresh bud off the plant and be smoking it in less than 5 minutes (giving 10 second zaps, let bud cool off in between, usually 60 seconds of total microwave time to get it smoking dry).
