Yes and yes.
You think at later age some trichs begin amber instead of progressing from clear to cloudy to amber like a green tomato ripening? I’ve never actually studied a particular trich area. I move my plants so much each time I check I surely scope a difference area altogether.
I was looking at buds that had been cured for 2.5 months. No amber trichomes. Makes me think the plant produces it. The THC doesn’t seem to degrade with age. Yet an amber trichome has a different effect than the frosty or clear. Another reason to thing it’s the aged plant that produces the amber trichome.
Light and heat speed up degradation of trichomes. They turn from exposure along with age. If you were to introduce uv light to harvested herb for a prolonged period the trichomes would likely turn amber.
I had some trics that shriviled up as cloudy and never did turn amber so that is a good question to readdress in my opinion .
Yes
Yes
And yes they turn amber as the thc content increases. Too much amber and by the time the bud dries you have over mature bud and lessening of thc. ?
Trichomes turn amber as THC oxidizes into CBN, so THC content decreases over time.
