@livemullet (need advise)
I copied your photo below from another post. I see you have a portable ac/heater “inside” your grow 4x4 tent. Does it work well like that? Is it vented outside the tent?
I have a 2x4 tent and a portable ac/heater/dehumidifier unit….but struggling to get it working properly.
Mine is “outside” the tent and I cut a hole for the output. So, the unit sits outside the tent in my shed
The problem is, on heat, it gets excessively hot even with thermostat setpoint. Same with cool, gets excessively cold and ignores the setpoint. Dehumidifier also is crazy.
- My question, does the entire unit need to be inside the tent so that the “return air” is coming from within the tent (like your) instead of return air from the shed?
Pics of mine below. I know it’s ugly and blasphemous to cut the tent (I can always tape it back)
I live in an excessive humidity area.

It would need to be inside to read the temp inside the tent and not the shed.
Its effectively cooling the tent while reading the temp of the shed so it thinks its still hot.
So yeah the easiest way would be to put it in the tent or find the temperature sensor in the AC, remove it and relocate it inside the tent…
The latter is doable if absolutely no room in the tent but would be time consuming and requires some wiring skills…

Also, if you could vent the AC completely out of the shed it would also help. Not something id say you had to do but it would help the lung/shed stay slightly cooler I imagine…

@1HappyPappy
Thanks for the reply
Thinking more about this, I agree it probably needs to go inside. After all, when using the unit in a bedroom (for example), the return air and thermostat is in the room
Now my problem is my GG4 auto is taking up all of my 2x4 tent. Maybe my next grow, I make the scrog a little smaller so the unit will fit.
Unfortunately the humidity in the tent is 80+. No mold yet and the plant is fine. We’ll see when the buds get large

Was just talking to another grower that has 1 GG 1 bruce banner and 1 girls scout cookie just getting started in a 2x4.
Was telling him them GG have a tendency to get absolutely huge! I’ve had more then one GG auto yeild over 1lb dry weight from a single plant
Good looking plant there and yeah you’re going have alot of bud in there before to long, im confident you can figure it out

I agree with @1HappyPappy that exhaust of the tent should be outside the shed. But other than that your tent looks beautiful inside. How many GG plants are in there?

Still got a ways to go before I get to where you’re currently at

@HotAndHumid G’day mate what is your temp an humidity atm ?maybe an extra oscilating fan will help with humidty
@RA305ra
Hi. You asked how many plants were in my tent. It is only one. But I did a heavy LST and SCROG. My second grow, first indoor and first auto. So far loving GG4.

Hello
Thanks. I currently have (3) 6” AC Infinity oscillating fans. One blowing above my light pointed at the controller to keep it cool. Another fan blowing across the buds and the third one blowing from underneath. The exhaust fan is a 6” AC Infinity. I believe I have plenty of air movement.
My temp and humidity fluctuates based on what’s happening outside since my tent is in my shed. But I’d say tell and humidity both range from 70 to 83.
I have a large capacity dehumidifier coming today. The one I have in the tent is small. Hoping it helps a little.

That’s a really nice outcome. I hope I can get the same results. How early did you start lst?
@RA305ra
I started LST very very early. When it was probably about 6 inches tall. (Maybe around 3rd week?) I ordered “long” pipe cleaners from Amazon and used those to tie down. I also ordered cheap chop sticks from Amazon and used those to push branches down (easy to change each day. Also used wire tubing holders for yard sprinklers to train.
I started very slowly and pulled it over “a little”. The next day pulled it down a little more each day or every other day.
Go slow. Very easy to break. In fact I did break two but taped them with a dab of honey and they healed fine
After several weeks I built a scrog and used sting line for brick layers to make the net. It stretches making it easy to move the branches

@HotAndHumid so. Kinda wanted to get fancy so I bought the 20pack of LST training clips. How long should I keep the clips on for? Ran outta chop sticks. But tell me what you think
Just did the BB and GG4
GSC is still pretty short so don’t wanna go digging in her bushes and hurt something

Hello
I’m no expert but in my opinion, you have a great start. I played a little bit each day or every other day. Just a little bit at a time.
I bought clips but broke two branches right away. So I instead use long pipe cleaners and the metal wires for holding down irrigation tubing. And chop sticks
Bought all three on Amazon. Got a massive amount of cheap chop sticks for like $5. Pipe cleaners cheap too
Just my way of doing it (this was my first)
When big enough, build a pvc scrog. I got 5 way pvc connectors and 4 way from Amazon. Used 3/4 pipe and brick layers string line
You look like you have a great start

Sorry for late reply but that is a dehumidifier a giant one to keep levels low here in the swamp

@HotAndHumid hey that looks to be the same AC unit I have. I see you have yours for the drain line hooked up, mine has the plug on it still but every time I take the plug on to check no water comes out, do you know why this is? Does yours drain a lot of water?
@Jayjay504, I don’t have that exact unit, but the one I have and several other s I’ve seen can sufficiently eliminate the resulting condensation through the exhaust if the environment isn’t overly humid. In my area, I have no water to drain up to 60-70% RH. Check the manual for your exact model to see if that’s the case for you. Sorry for the unsolicited reply
@Cannanaut no I very much appreciate the reply, do you mean it is going to spit moisture out the exhaust? I have my exhaust running into an inside wall in my house with my attic above
In my case for the RH levels I mentioned the exhaust feels humid but putting my hand in front of the exhaust it doesn’t get wet. The hot air is warm enough to where I get no actual liquid coming out. Just a guess, but I’m thinking when the RH gets too high there will be a need to use the drain line to get rid of the condensate. in your situation I would verify how the exhaust in your situation comes out to make sure your house isn’t damaged. My $.02.
@Cannanaut yeah I’m kind of worries about that, how do I verify that
