If you decide to go with the AC Infinity lights on amazon you can use coupon code “mr grow it 15” for an additional 15% off the whole line of AC Infinity grow products. That code plus the 10% off amazon is also doing currently brings that S44 down to $320 shipped to your doorstep.
If not going for hlg light, id suggest a sonofarm maxx pro 8 it will fill up a 4*4 with good light and very little heat. A little on the heavy side but you can separate the driver from the light and have it outside tent
Vivosun makes leds using lm301s too.
They are more affordable (ebay) and you can add them as time goes by.
I have 3 VS1000’s in a 3x3 tent.
Cost on ebay for used ones is about $90 each
Good luck with whatever you choose
You folks do know all this led diode production is all binned out and graded between all the light manufactures and within Sammy’s own spec list. And many of these lights that claim to have Sammy LM301’s are knock offs and not even Sammy production. Almost all these China Company’s are owned by the government of china and all they want to do is launder western money and will lie, cheat and steal to get your money.
Buy American!
I have a 300L Bspec for veg, 600Rspec, a 350, a couple 30uva, a couple far red, and a couple uvb t5. All hlg led except the T5s.
Haven’t grown better in my life.
Looking good!
Currently running two 260xl’s in my 4x4. Even with the drivers outside the tent it gets pretty warm. Took a surface temp reading of my lights while on and the syncs get to around 106*. So was just curious if one light would be enough and possibly help reduce the heat in the tent. I’ll have to check out the sonofarm lights. Thanks.
@registereduser
What are you using for ventilation?
I easily control my temps with AC infinity exhaust, controller & tent… Controller set at a constant 3-5…mainly on 3.
Then I have ac inline fans also on my tent input vents at the bottom connected to my inkbird humidity controller on the dehumidifier side to blow in cooler less himid air. I also have one on an inkbird temp controller with a oil filled radiator heater and on the cooling side another inline fan on the other vent input.
Plus three oscillating fans inside the tent. My main exhaust pipe is on top of my lights on on side sucking air across.
My humidity and temps are always under control and with a proper vpd. I also make sure my light are set for proper dli… All that combined helps with heat.
Using an AC Infinity T6 for exhaust. Nothing as elaborate as what you have. During summer, tent temps run around 80-85* during day with exhaust set at 6.
I’m looking at the Alpha 6. According to the website it says it’s 50"x24". Tent is only 48" wide so thinking this light wouldn’t fit into the tent being two inches longer than tent.
If you add a fan to the input vent it could help with your temps.
I use this inline:
Controlled by:
I also use a t6 for exhaust with an ac infinity carbon filter.
I use an air flow meter as I took the carbon filter out of tent and positioned it out of the tent but now more bends in ducts so the hand held air flow meter helps ensure good air flow as the more bends the more are must be forced through.
Also… I also have two ac infinity 4x4s.
It’s best to cry once and go ahead and get a quality light. If not you’ll end up buying it after a cheaper light disappoints you. I can not recommend HLG strongly enough. For your space take a look at the blackbird or 650R. You can usually get a refurb at a substantial discount direct from HLG.
Your undersized for a 4x4 with two 260’s, XL or otherwise. Your having to drive them hard to get where you need to be. The byproduct is heat. My dual 260 Rspec’s in my 3x3 are at dimmer setting 3 putting out 600 PPFD to the tallest bud as I’m letting the grow finish up. There only drawing 117 watts and not even warm to the touch with one 6" fan on low moving air around the top of the lights and two 6" fans in the grow area with a 6" exhaust. The highest the dimmers ever got set were #6 during there current grow during the height of flower for 340 watts and then they were just warm to the touch. My 260’s pull a max of 254 watts each wide open for 508 watts total. They would be getting toasty in a 4x4 trying to light the space up properly.
I run 2 HLG 300Ls and UVA in the 3x3 find 440watts to be my sweet spot when pushing them Pretty hard only about 3/4, 1000+ ppfd✌️
I could step down to a 3x3 as I typically only do two plants at a time. That’s a great suggestion because it’s cheaper to buy a tent than another light.
Pulled the trigger on an AC Infinity 3x3, got it on the Zon shipped for less than buying directly from AC Infinity. Many pluses for this, I’ll have enough light for the space, it will take up less room, and I’ll have a second tent for drying or vegging… it may also be more lightproof to do photos.
Thanks for the input.
BTW anyone looking for a 3x3 Amazon has a 10% discount for this tent.
@registereduser you can use the discount code “mr grow it 15” on ac infinity products on amazon if it’s sold from ac infinity and it stacks with that 10%. If it’s not too late cancel and rebuy with the code.
Thanks for the heads up
Hell Yeah! That brought the cost down to $104 shipped!
Thanks!
Any time gromie!
I have a 3x3 because of necessity. IMHO a 3x3 is the worse over all tent size out there. I use my office for other activity’s. I have a small loading bench. A rather large desk with two auto progressive presses mounted to it, reloading components, safe. I keep special tools that can’t be replaced and other odds and ends in my office/grow space. It has to be multifunctional. As time and funds permit I will be throwing away my Gorilla tents or maybe giving them to new growers as I limit my china junk exposure and build myself new near furniture quality enclosures like we did in the old days at custom sizes that better fit my needs. But a 3x3 wont be a size built at all. 2x2, 2x4 and 4x4 are much better. Anything with a “3” in the size is a bastard sized enclosure.
