ACI EVO6 or HLG Blackbird for 4x4?

The ACI IONFRAME EVO fixtures have been out for a while now, and I’m wondering how you folks feel like it stacks up against the HLG Blackbird for a full-growth-cycle 4x4 tent? From reading many threads across multiple forums and review sites, there is no doubt how well-liked the Blackbird is for 4x4 tents. It’s been around for a while and the QB200 full-specturm boards with 600w of current draw, make it one of the best out there from what I read. But since there’s a lot of ACI fans here too, I was wondering what you have to say abou the 500w EVO6 fixture with its fancy multi-vendor LED arrays… Thanks!

The light spread on the evos seems to have a lot of drop off on the outside edges if it were me I would go with the scorpion Diablo much better light for a 4x4 put it 24" above canopy you will be have very little dropoff on the eyes and not have to max out your light

I have a BlackBird , 350R, 600r, and 320XL. If i were to pick out of all those to purchase again, id get another 600r. Price is comparable to the blackbird, you get deep red, and its sold as a commercial unit. Dont get me wrong, i love my blackbird. She got me a lb off my first harvest with her.

Thanks @JJ520 @ChittyChittyBangin for the hands-on experience advice.
I am going to build my tent soon, and want to buy the right light… once.
With the 600R - the driver is mounted onto the fixture right, so you can’t move it outside the tent to lower the heat load?

It is removable but there is a process that requires extending the power wiring and dimmer wiring. You can email HLG and they will be happy to walk you through it. They dont sell an extension kit, but will give you the parts list to do it.

The HLG Tomahawk bar type is advertised as being a remote mounted driver, with their available extension cord.
I have not heard any reports on these since HLG introduced them.

I can’t speak directly to the blackbird, but I run a hlg 350r in a 2x4, and it seems to do a great job, so I’m hlg all the way. My wife also uses a 350r for her house plants, and they’re thriving.

I run both lights, i actually have my blackbird in my veg tent and the evo in flower due to the evo is much cooler… consistently getting a pound off my 4×4 with the evo and my exhust barely kicks up with the evo, i think both lighrs are great but the evo is cooler due to the bar style lighting

If you are able to manage even canopies i would rock the evo

Easy to mount driver outside as well

A pound in a 4x4 I get between 2-3 consistently,scorpion, Diablo
I get 1-1.5 in the 3x3 consistently,650, Diablo
In scrog
The evos have a lot of drop off at outer edges of footprint impo✌🏻

A pound every 2 months aint bad, just giving my experiences, if you cant keep your tent cool footprint wont matter, everyones setup is different

Same hear giving my experience I have no issue with heat it’s all about proper venting and we get toasty down hear in AZ evos are very nice just not the best coverage in its own foot print it’s got a hot spot but every grow op is different :v:t2:
