Ok I don’t usually ask this advice but I have a bit of a situation.
Week 12 for my double grape and not seeing any amber trichs.
We leave for a cruise in a week, the cruise is nine days so I’m looking at 18 days from today.
From what I see through the microscope she still has what appears to be about two weeks left just want to get some opinions from more experienced growers.
Thanks.
I’d take it down and hang it the day before you left if it were me. Hang it somewhere as cool as you can so it dries as slow as possible, then trim and jar when you get back.
@registereduser were you considering an alternative to @Dexterado thoughts (i.e. you have a caretaker, but don’t want THAT much amber) or is chop day for sure the day before and the main q is best drying method for 9-10 days? Facing something similar. Although not a cruise, enjoy!!
@Dexterado, @SandyC, Thanks for the input guys. I grow in autopots and have switched nutrients in the reservoir to Jack’s finish nutrients. I’m gonna go a week using the finish nutes and the day before I leave I’m gonna fill the reservoir with PH’d water and let her finish and flush that way. She may go a bit longer than I’d like but don’t see any other option. I had thought about chopping and hanging while I’m gone but I think 9 days is gonna be too long and would overdry her. Most of my harvests dry within 5-7 days A/C running really lowers the humidity. Thanks guys!
I live where there is low humidity. I found a cardboard box dries them much slower. I was skeptical at first, but it works. I just make sure to put a small hole on 2 sides of the box and put a fan pointing at the box (but not in the box) to create a bit of air circulation. you don’t want too much or it will dry too fast, not enough and you are susceptible to mold (if you live in a higher humidity area)
Thanks for that tip. I use a couple of moving boxes stacked on top of one another when the tent is full and connect the boxes to one of the tent vents and set the exhaust fan on low. I dried my last batch like that and after 5 days the moisture readings of the buds were right around 10-12%. I’m just gonna let her go until I get back and hope for the best. I think I’d rather have couch lock as opposed to overly dried.
Thanks for the help everyone!
Maybe having the exhaust fan in there dried them quicker (?) That’s exactly why I only put a fan on the outside of the box and two holes about the size of a $1 coin… but I live in low humidity.
Awesome pics bro. She looks delicious. I agree with all the above. Warddrobe boxes are a good way, i have 2 for emergency uses. Might wanna pick up some bamboo sticks to be able to hang multiple rows. Leave enough space in between your nugs. Itlll be tight, but slow is the way to go.
