My plans I drew up to try to make life a bit easier growing in dwc and trying to utilize the scrog method. Hope this can help anyone else that’s in the same boat as me starting out
Lots of hard work goin on but will be sweet rewards later…
Lots of work is for sure I got about a week or so in just mentally trying to figure out how to do the bucket configuration and utilize my 5x5 space to the fullest yet still try have some ease in servicing everything lol
I’d suffer from brain damage for sure after a big project like that…
@FLATOUT_STONED hi there. You asked in another thread, how to start your journal. This could be your journal. Keep adding your pics and updates. You don’t want to start a new thread, even if having problems. We like everything on 1 thread, so we know what’s happening and don’t have to keep asking same questions. You have a heck of a setup happening. I am going to set to watching you for this adventure.
I will do just that then !! Thanks for the info man now with the advice from a few others I have just about everything as far as my set up goes… now I’m trying to read and learn what nutrients are going to be my best bet for this journey I was thinking the bergmans but I read on here that it’s not anything to brag about
@NUG61 @Fieldofdreams @peachfuzz @PurpNGold74 @The_Chef going to make this thread my journal as suggested above if you all would like to follow along on my journey here
@anon1893985 well follow along here if you want to continue to see me give myself brain damage
Set to watching Brother
Im along for the ride bro
I use General Hydroponics Nutes, very easy to mix and great results for me. Good luck with the brain damage choosing…lol so many.
Do some research on Jack’s 3-2-1 program: probably the most economical and user-friendly nutrient line available. Plan on adding a product like Hydroguard to your mix.
What lighting are you using and do you have a chiller? Gonna need one…
@Myfriendis410 I’ve seen allot of recommendations on the jacks system right now I have two of these lights and plan on getting two more so one for each bucket until I can upgrade to something better they claim these are 3x3 coverage but I highly doubt that at most I’m guessing is a true 50-75 watts so I figured one for each plant should be good from what I have read on other forums … chiller… what do you mean by that ?
Little update all the drainage pipes fit and ran now just a refill line the last two buckets and that’s all done
This is such a great, clean looking set up.
I am about to embark on my first scrog grow in the next month or so. My hope is to have some success and do it over again using DWC just like you have set up here. I’m currently in organic soil.
If you don’t mind explaining how you’ve hooked everything up in your tent I would really love to hear more about it because this is on the horizon for me potentially this fall.
If you don’t mind me asking some seriously newbie questions feel free to indulge me. Or feel free to ignore me if you don’t want to answer some dumb questions
-
is this a four pot set up? Is there a reservoir? Is the reservoir located inside the tent, if not where is it?
-
why do you have valves and pipes connecting the buckets? What’s the purpose of that?
This is such a clean looking purpose built set up that it’s really got my interest piqued. I can’t wait to see how you build your scrog tables! To be honest I hope you do it soon, I am probably going to be building my tables in the next week or so. I’m planning on using PVC and building tables that are approximately 28” wide by 48” long
Thanks in advance if you decide to entertain my silly questions
@Deez I’m humbled as I’ve never done this at all before it’s honestly just me over thinking and trying to make my life run as smooth as possible… so for most importantly I built a base for my tent to sit on partially because of my plan ideas partially because I’m growing in my garage and live in the Midwest so we deal with some colder months and didn’t want my babies on the direct concrete from there I bought the root spa dwc system after adding up buckets-pump-lids it was cheaper to go that route from there I bought a bunch of 1/2” pvc and got to laying out my madness. At the bottom of each bucket I have a spring ball valve to control drainage they both tee off into the same drainage pipe outside the tent that is threaded with a 3/4” male pvc end that a garden hose will screw on to from there I will have the garden hose hook up to a transfer pumper then on the exhaust end of pump another hose attached to another garden hose that connects to pvc and will drain into a 5 gallon bucket where then I will be able to carry out of my garage and dispose of without making a huge mess…. Then my issue got to be how and the hell am I going to refill these buckets after using the scrog method without disturbing my babies and stressing them more. So then I drilled holes at the top of each bucket and each bucket has a individual line to be refilled same idea as the drainage set up with male and female fittings that will fit a garden hose to pump… it’s the best way that I could come up with without making huge mess flushing the dwc system and refilling it hope this helps man if any other questions feel free to ask Im a complete noob but am more then willing to help anyway possible the only stupid question is the one that isn’t asked
@Deez I just finished running the refill lines hopefully this gives you a better idea what I got going on I also forgot to add that In the center where both drain lines meet it’s actually a 4 way tee the top half is a cap I can pop of and use to clean any water that may still end up inside the tent
In for the ride brother! Set to watch
I didnt even see a DWC bucket when i came on here now ive seen 3 recently.
Did you set the system up this way because you wanted independent control over each plant instead or recirculating, with all tied together?
