Your thoughts of giving 48HRS of darkness before harvest. I’m about a week out. Finished the final flush today. Trichomes are mainly cloudy, a few clear, but surprisingly no Amber’s yet. Does the darkness make that much of a difference?
I’m wondering the same thing so I’ll be following this post for sure. I’m planning on giving mine 48 hours of darkness in the tent too when it’s time to chop her down.
Yeah, I’m wondering if it actually makes a difference. The nugs on her are rock hard now. I also heard that the darkness will make the nugs less dense.
Really? Less dense? Idk if I want that for my plant. I’m hoping for solid, hard nugs. Urs is looking great btw. I guess I’m gonna go off however ur plant reacts to the dark if u do decide to keep her dark for 48 hrs. Great job on the grow tho btw
Thanks. It’s a auto purple kush. 11 weeks old. Thought she was going to be all jacked up. When she started had odd number leaves on 1 side and even on the other. Finally straightened her self out. Started pre flower at 4 weeks.
Honestly I find it redundant. Because no one dries the plants in a lighted room.
I personally don’t think it really makes a discernable difference. Others may disagree, but I agree with @MrPeat the trichomes will continue to turn after chopping. I admit I may be wrong.
Over time the marijuana degrades. Whether its in the freezer and or mason jars amber in color. I know it degrades. My Blue Dream is full of amber now and trust me, I have always pulled early. I know more now than when I started.
In fact put around 1/2 oz in a mason jar and don’t open it up for say 6 months. The jar will self seal.
@MrPeat that’s crazy. I’m gonna try that with at least a half when I chop mine down. @Autofreak is that purple kush from here? I like how it looks, I might grab some. Gonna grab the sweet mix pack next week but I might add some purple kush to the order too, not sure yet. @Bulldognuts I appreciate the info from all u guys though. I’m new too so I’m trying to soak up any jewels I can
The majority of people here were new to growing when they started on forum. What little I have learned was learned here. Hopefully you will stick around and help new growers learn. I try to help out with the basics.
@Bulldognuts yeah I definitely intend to be here pretty much daily. I check it while I have time at work, soon as I’m home, whenever I’m gonna do anything with the plant, I come here first I try to help here and there as far as giving tips, but my own brain tells me I don’t have enough experience to butt in so I usually just like comments and watch in the background lol
but once I’ve had a few successful grows and I actually can definitely speak from personal experience and knowledge I’ve accumulated, I’ll be dropping jewels like everyone else has for me.
I read some research the other day that stated THC will continue to oxidize into CBN as cured weed ages. The article didn’t cite how quickly it happened though.
If I can find the article again I’ll post it.
Not true at all.
The 48 hours of dark doesn’t make much of a difference but I do it when all the plants are ready at the same time, as they often are with my clones runs. Do it or don’t. Won’t hurt anything and maybe help a little.
Only way to know for sure is with lab testing, here is one grower that did the testing, watch and decide for yourself.
Jiggaman 1987, yes got them here. Had a buy 10 get 10 deal on them.
I agree. Did 48 hrs of dark with some pineapple and zkittlez. Nugs were still rock hard but didn’t really notice any change from when they went in.
It does nothing but degrade after chop. I found no difference really after 48 hrs dark not to my eyes or scope anyway. Tried it twice, but I would like to go say 72 hrs dark once for an experiment.
Well, let’s do an experiment. Here is a close up now and I’ll post another when the 48 hrs is over. I’ll be putting into dark tomorrow night. I’ll pull it and chop it Wednesday morning. I honestly can’t see it getting any more frosty then it alreadyis.
I’ve done 48 twice, I was talking about going longer saying 72 hrs
@JiggaMan1987 Its pretty cool the mason jars will self seal if you leave them alone after curing is done. I opened one and pow…a pretty good bang. I was not expecting this to happen.
Sorry for a late response as I was helping my hottie neighbor start putting up Xmas lights inside. Back home.
I’ve done that with Gorilla glue. The smell was amazing
