I have 3 different strains that are going to finish at different times, and I am at a loss as to what to do. Do I let one plant go past its prime time, one when it’s ready, and one a little early? I only have one room and one tent to dry in. I’m already at a disadvantage because I can’t get the temp down to 60 as the only ac in the room/tent is our house ac, which is set at 76*.
I am a bit lost on that with this being my first grow indoors. Back in the late 70’s & early 80’s everything got harvested at the same time, same day. That is kinda what I was thinking I would have to do with this crop too. My grow tent is the only place I have to hang the plants that might be able to contain the odor/smell so I figured my Mango Kush would have to be harvested a little late and the other two strains maybe a little early. I’ll post some pics of the different state of growth they are all at today.
1st two pics are of my Mango Kush. Farthest along from the start. Next is my Jamaican Lion X Maui Wowie cross I mangled to foxtail city by cranking my light up way too high about a month ago. Damage was done. Colas are huge but the top section spindly buds with foxtails galore. The last 5 pics are of my Acai-Berry X Gelato cross. Colas are big and it’s coming on strong but still behind the Mango Kush.
I am really at a loss on how to dry these things without hurting the outcome. We keep this interior of the home at 76* and that’s about as cool as the environment will be. Not ideal.
Next year I plan to frame out a section of my garage to a dedicated grow room with its own mini-split AC so I can optimize the grow environment. I also plan to grow all 4 of my plants next grow from the same strain.
ideal.

To control odor (aka keep my old lady off my ass) i need to dry in my tent with carbon filter slowly pulling air out. So, the light needs to be off to lower the temp as much as possible.
You got a bachelor buddy near by that would let you dry there for some gift buds as a thank you?
Now we all understand fully. Not your parameters, but your partner in life. You may have to just cut them all then. Then think every time you smoke this winter about how you need to finish the grow room in the garage before next bean pop.
Strain must be very suseptible, cause the other 2 plants under same tent & same heat stress. Other 2 made it without foxtails. 1 other plant did Herm out on me though. Hey, 1st grow since early 80s. & first RDWC. Surprised i haven’t killed em yet. Lol
Sometimes it’s the genitics and it’s not stress I’ve grown several strains that foxtailed top to bottom. If it’s just on the tops it’s light stress if not it’s probably in the genes
@Dman1969 really? First ive heard of anything positive about foxtailing. Most responses are worst ive seen, etc. Likes they’re just short of fog crap. My only experience with such an animal. Big colas below top tail.
When I get close to the end (about 2 weeks from harvest) I turn my lights down to simulate late fall. The plants think it’s the end so they go into overdrive to try to finish. This can and will boost trich production. I do it on every grow.
This would be fine IF the environment meets drying specifications.
Drying and Curing are the two biggest steps in the overall outcome of your product. The perfect drying environment is 60° and 60% relative humidity. If you’re somewhere in that range then drying in the tent with a current grow could work okay.
But it looks as if most of the plants are in late flower and normally those conditions are set to 75°, and 45% relative humidity (in a perfect world)
Foxtails
Are the genetics of the ruderalis when you grow autoflowers all the time, you’ll get used to seeing them. I simply ignore them. I raised my light ever so slightly and reduce the intensity and it normally slows it down. I look at it as extra free weed. Although not attractive they’re 100% totally smokable and it tends not to diminish any potency whatsoever. It’s part of the auto flower game!
I with you 100% I was just trying to help him get them all to the finish line. The last harvest would be the ideal one. But I would rather have some fast dried buds in jars than some weed that wasn’t ready to harvest being harvested. Myself I would let the one finishing first go as long and amber as It could get. Then chop and hang. And so forth. I know it isn’t ideal. But you can raise the humidity back up in jars very easily.
There’s many alternatives in drying. Sometimes when you have conditions that are less than favorable I will dry trim everything and put them in brown paper bags and put them in the coldest room that I have and it’s worked successfully.
I know it’s a pain in the ass when different girls in the tent want to finish later than others (I’m going through it right now) it makes things so much more inconvenient
