Forum search dome watering. Context: water away from seedling. seedling stays dry, roots seek out moisture, away from stalk, and soil shows color variation light/dark is for dry/wet soils. YOURS appears to be all dark. @Spiney_norman or @Spudgunner, or somebody mentioned 10-14 days w/o water befroe seelings will die. Soil color and weight are better indicators than wet-stink finger or calendar.
That was me @DEEPDIVERDAVE
It was 21 days before it wilted
Dont take this as im arguing or ignoring everyone’s tips, I truly do appreciate them! But the reason I bought up the battling water was because I teied to follow those suggestions, and they started turning yellow (I didn’t take pics because I gave them water, and their color perked up). Today they started looking a little yellow again. Now running RH at 65-70%, ambient temp 76F high and 69 low. They appear to be loving it, I cant explain it! Thinking maybe the gardening stakes are helping to aerate the soil because the are a hollow pvc like material ![]()
All I know is they appear happy so far. Am I about right for growth being 8 days from sprouting? Here they are as of now
You don’t always have to explain it. Sometimes you just have to listen to what the plants are telling you. They’re alive, and they are actually telling you.
If it’s working keep doing it.
Ok, so pot was super light, because all I’ve heard was “you can’t start in a big pot, you’ll over water them.” Since when do you let Coco coir or living soil go bone dry? Let me make this clearer for all of those that don’t reside in my home and are diagnosing off of 1 picture without monitoring the plants as I have.
THE POTS WERE DRY!!!
Here they are taken right before typing this. RH got a little low, so I gave each 4 sprays from a spray bottle.

Am I the only one noticing less yellow? Maybe it is my camera and the lighting, but wouldn’t overwatering kill the plants if they were aready overwatered? I literally poured til run off yesterday? Sorry, im just baffled that I am getting told what I am doing without being here
I truly appreciate this
There are many excellent growers on this forum. Many people have different opinions so you do have to pick a gross style that works for you.
Those are still pretty young for watering to full runoff so just be careful and keep your eye on them. I’m not generally a fan of the spray bottle and don’t often recommend it.
If your plants stay green they approve of what you’re doing ![]()
Here some more pics. They appear to like lower humidity than vpd suggests, lowered to 55-60%RH. Temps maintaining 76F high and 69Fl low. I have been watering all 3 with half a gallon a day, plan for this coco living soil appears to like daily waterings. I also named the girls, here they are in all their glory 2 weeks from being planted in the dirt!
They’re looking healthier for sure🤘
Thanks, I’ve been trying to see how far i can push their DLI as well. Currently hitting them with 360ish ppfd. Tried to go 400 yesterday, but they were not liking it!
Looking good on their road to recovery! ![]()
Thanks, they did not like getting dry, lol
Hey guys, i know its been a while lots of ups and downs. Been learning through abuse of these plants, but they have recovered (although Droopy is way behind the other 2). They will be 6 weeks from sprout tomorrow. I was going to top dress this weekend and then flip next. Is that too early?
Riker - 16 top mainline, been a perfect grow for her
Twista - had an issue with light stress, over/under watering, but bounced back like a champ. Got 8 tops currently
Droopy - honesty if she was a child, I would have called CPS myself, lol! She is going to be tiny, topped too early, plus the same issues that twista dealt with. She is my lesson giver, really learned alot from the mistakes!
Droopy is an odd one for sure. She will probably be your best yielder!!
Unless you have a height restriction, I’d wait till around 12" before you flip
Heres too hoping!
Not height issues, I definitely have time to wait
Once you’ve trained a plant as a manifold you get your bud volume generally by stacking vertical for a little bit
Awsome, thanks for the info. I’ll wait for 12 inches and go from there.
