Powers been out for about 24hrs, have 10 day old seedlings - at what point do I need to start worrying?
Do you know how long it’s supposed to last?
I’ve had young plants sit in a dark room without water for up to a week and they lived.
No idea at this point. Still have storms rolling through
Is it auto or photo?
Can you move them outside?? Or to a window??
Otherwise it kinda like they are outside and a rainstorm has blocked the sun for a day or two.
They are Autos
Got an LED flashlight?
Generators are cheap.
It might be rough on an auto… dang. @ChittyChittyBangin made a good suggestion. Obviously not an ideal situation but it would buy you time.
I suppose that depends on the persons situation.
One of my biggest fears now that I am growing and it’s “storm” season. We don’t really lose power but when we do, it’s a couple of days, I would just hook up the generator, guess where all the juice would be going now? Hahhaha
Generators to run a light, cheap. Cheaper than a grow setup.
We have 2 different size Jackery power boxes that charge off solar panel, the new one we just got is big enough for the lights for a long while.
Harbor freights “Honda” knock offs are freaking amazing. I have one, super quiet, 2k watts peak 1600w rms etc.
I have a 7500w and the harbor freight 2k. They could keep us comfortable in a pinch.
Also the harbor freight 2k watt uses 1/2gal of gas (or petrol depending on your country) every 12 hours at 50% load IIRC.
Hows this for outside the box? Are you in a legal state? What kind of car do you drive? There’s a good chance these days it has either LED or HID headlights. Probably be just a tad over 1/2 gal fuel though
I have a light that works from the cig lighter, most call 12v adapters now days.
12 v battery with clip on light. Cheaper?
These plants aren’t old enough to flower so exact amount of light time received doesn’t matter. Get them outside during the day and protect them from getting soaked with water if you need to.
Worst case scenario you lose them and you’re out the cost of seeds. At least you won’t have months invested into them.
Put them near a window if you cant put them outside. You can keep a seedling alive for a long time with just ambient sun light. It wont grow much but it will stay alive.
Yep, as mentioned, outside, or next to a window. It’s all you can do unless you want to buy a generator, which you may have a hard time finding if everyone else is buying them.
set them outside if possible till power is restored
Power came back early today! Thanks everyone for the advice!
