1st post :) LED On Amazon for for 109.00

I just purchased this very expensive grow light… expecting big yields :roll_eyes::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::see_no_evil::see_no_evil:

Well that would depend on the type of plant your going to grow and it’s potential size/yield. From experience with growing several feminized strains in confinement and also grown with plenty of room , I’ve learned that growing one or two fems with potential yields from an indoor grow with LST of a lb or more is easier to achieve and less frustrating and provides bigger more potent yields than my dissatisfaction with yields I got from overcrowded plants. You could potentially fit 8-10 speed bud auto’s (55-65 day germ to harvest) in your tent. Or grow two very productive fems in containers that allow them to reach their maximum. You’ll also be happier with the outcome if you let your fems veg no less than 6 wks before turning to 12/12. A big name dept store has 12 gallon containers with these dimensions 12”Wx12”Hx16”L with lids for drain pans and 20 gal containers 14”wX20”Lx13”h. There are so many ways to grow , some tried and true ,some still up for debate and some still to be discovered and , opinions on each vary with the grower. I’m a stalwart org soil person it is tried and true and all strains originate from soil and taste better look better my opinion of course lol. There is one thing that never changes and that is plant growth is directly effected by the size of the container it’s grown in. No debate on that but plenty on techniques lol. I wish you Green Grass and High Tides

How much did you pay for that light ? I hope it wasn’t too expensive An 8 tube 4’ T5 light will fit in a 4x4 tent at around $120.00 avg 4 star price on amazon with choice of tube color range

@Zsitchin Hey bud, thank you for the recommendation. I’m def. going to take your advice and plant in larger pots. I’m going to shop around to see what I can find in terms of pottery. The light fixture posted was just for fun… I didn’t buy. The fixture houses the antique T12’s which I have set up to light up a regular closet, but they are 4’ L X 2’ W. I could technically use them if they gave the right amount of light because the fixture does fit in the tent but I’m not. I’m honestly still debating on lighting. This is the last thing that I have to purchase and I’ll be ready to start my 1st grow… (super excited)… I don’t want to have buyers remorse so I am looking into many different options. Some of these LED’s are very pricy. I was debating on the LED by chilled logic posted above but have yet to pull the trigger on anything. But thank you for the information, as I will use it to consider my options. I do have a serious question though. I haven’t grown before, I’m a total newb. I haven’t even purchased seeds yet.
But I’m a bit confused on one thing maybe you or @dbrn32 can help answer.
I read that up to 15-20% blue light helps plant density and maximize productivity, green and red light helps flowering and photosynthesis. If I were to decide to purchase a light like the LED fixture by chilled logic above. How does that work? Do you need separate lights? They call them Full Spectrum Lighting so does the white light also give color? Im confused? Do you use this LED only for the entire growth period or do you need to swap to blue for flowering?
Thanks in advance for any replies:

Also just came across these 4’ LED retrofit bulbs

The term full spectrum is thrown around pretty loosely. It means that there is some representation from every color group across the par spectrum. Full spectrum doesn’t mean anything about the intensity of each wavelength vs all the others though.

Most of the white leds will be considered full spectrum. So even a light that has primarily red and blue leds with a couple of whites would qualify. In terms of how it’s used, means next to nothing.

The chilled tech logic board is more geared towards flowering, but I’m sure you could grow from seed to harvest with it. Anything in 3000k to 3500k range would cover the majority of qb, cob, or DIY lights setup for seed to harvest growing.

He’s the man for LEDs that’s for sure. I can’t help you much there on who and what where but a full spectrum is best used for autos in my opinion as they emit the full spectrum of light throughout the grow from white blue to red
to infrared etc all in one pkg. and that’s great for autos with their short veg time some have little to no veg time. You can purchase LEDs that switch from. Veg light to flower. Yep I’d ask the expert you mentioned above. This ain’t a push but the plants
you saw in my post 2 are from ILGM and 2 from another breeder and they are proving to be the best I’ve sown really I’m shaking my head at 19 fingers ! On a fan leaf and that’s genetics bro not my brown thumb lol

@dbrn32 Hey bud, it’s me again… How’s it going? So my tent is finally up. Trying to finish up ventilation tomorrow. Lighting is the last piece of the puzzle. However, I feel like the more that I read the more confused I get. There are so many options and specs. Who knew lighting was going to be so complicated? I was reading some of your prior posts from back in 2017 and saw all the amazing DIY builds that ppl created. I’m pretty handy and sure that I can create a build, but I don’t know or understand the specs. Nor do I know what I’m suppose to build to specs. So I want to ask again for your recommendation. On your previous post you wrote that a QB, as long as it’s between 3000-3500K will cover the entire cycle. You also said that the chilled logic board was more geared towards flowering but could be used for the entire cycle. I want to do this right in order to maximize yield. Which brings me to my next question. Would you personally use the Chilled logic QB for the entire cycle? If not, how would you do it? Would/could you separate a 4x4 tent in half? I can get 2 plants in 10 gal pots a 2x2 right? I’ll be happy with that I think if the yield is good. Maybe not ideal, but I don’t have a flowering tent. If I were to divide the tent in 1/2, will I need two different lights on each side? Would the household 5000k LED insert (like the one posted above) be good for Veg and then transfer it over to a QB like the chilled logic for flower? Then I can prob. get a 2x4 and save some $$. It’s really not about the money. Im not trying to get a shit light. The chilled logic 4x4 complete w/ substrate canopy, tax and delivery comes to $947.21, Which is not cheap. But if it’s going to give me the best flowering and yield then I will go with it. I also kinda like the hybrid idea to cover the areas that the QB does not but that’s probably another issue.

When you have some extra time to reply, please steer me in the right direction.
You have my tent size, amount of plants I would be good with, and approx. budget.
What would you do?

We’re going to ban that question from being asked lol. Only because it would make things more complicated than they ever need to be.

First things first, the only difference between the standard qb (like the 288) and the chilled logic boards, is a couple of red leds on each puck. They not only use the same type of white led, it’s the exact same led lol. Those couple of little red leds change a lot more on paper than they do in a grow room. On paper the chilled board is more geared towards flowering because of those couple of little red leds. Otherwise they’re about the same will grow similarly. There’s no reason to go splitting a tent because of that.

If you still wanna build, or buy, or do whatever, I’m happy to help. You can probably save a couple hundred bucks doing a couple of xl 260 kits in a 4x4 and grow great weed. In my opinion watt for watt a DIY light, quantum boards, or chilled logic boards are all going to do about the same thing for you.

On another note, I don’t feel it’s neccessary to grow in a 10 gallon pot on an indoor tent grow. A 5 gallon pot should be more than you need.

@dbrn32 lol… Please don’t band the question… haha  At least you can rest assured that your opinions and knowledge are trusted and valued. :+1:
Thats funny! I really appreciate your patience. Okay! Let me check out the XL 260 kits and decide which light I’m going to go with.
Re: 5/10 gallon pot, thanks, I will keep that in mind…
Lets go shopping!! haha
Thanks again @dbrn32

Hey Gang,
so I purchased the AC Infinity T4 inline duct fan. I haven’t been able to test it with the light yet because the light hasn’t arrived. I plan to put a carbon filter on it and use it as an exhaust. Can anyone spit ball this and tell me if you think that this will suffice? As you know, I have a 4x4 tent which is approx. a good 30’ from the closest window and fresh air source. Infinity claims that the fan’s airflow is 205 cfm with 4" ducting.
Do I need to run two ducts? One intake and one exhaust? Maybe 6" ducting? (Please say no! this will be a problem). Thank you guys!

@Mendax that fan and 4 inch duct should work. If you went with the 8 foot tall tent the cubic feet of that tent is 128. The fan will replace the air in the tent approximately every 30 seconds on full speed. Good rule of thumb is to try and replace air every 60 seconds.

I bought two stand alone 8 inch carbon filters, love them! NO smell unless I leave the tent open. Its a bit over kill but I cant have any smells. lol
