Like the title says, Im getting setup for my first attemp and figured I’d document some stuff along the way as I’m sure I’ll be leaning on some of you for your expertise! Attached are some photos of where I’m at so far with my tent setup and I will update once a few more things arrive and are added.

Temps are on the cold side so I have a space heater on the way and I do plan to add a CO2 fan in the next couple weeks. I also plan on adding a 2nd light as things grow. Beans should be here Tuesday and we can get cracking!
Look like you have a lot of thought in setting up your tent. Good grows to you my friend.
@JaneQP yes I have been skimming through this forum for quite some time before I ordered anything. Keeping things confined and quiet were high on the list. I got lucky fitting the 4x4x80" tent in the basement. Theres only about a inch of headroom above it and zero side to side as its between ductwork. Thanks
Smart person! I picked up five clones on a whim and then willy nilly bought things. Thank goodness I found this forum and lots of great support! I think I have my techniques semi-dialed in now - but still encounter issues and I count on the excellent grower-friends I have met here to provide advice.
Nice set up, you’ve definitely put some thought into it.
A couple things to consider if you haven’t already.
It looks as if your basement is on the cold side… you might want to consider insulation board for under your tent.even with a heater your floor will stay cold and stunt growth. I know you said you have a heater coming in but… Have you considered tapping into your house ducts to heat your tent that way. It’s more cost effective and IMO safer using less floor space as well.
Enjoy the new toys and happy growing
Hey @Khaos850 have you considered running your light at night during the coldest part of the day?
@BigItch thanks for the insight! My basement definitely stays on the cool side ranging from 58ish-61. I did think about tapping into the duct work but my worry was the temp would fluctuate so much and really wouldnt get up to my desired temp. Once my house reaches set temp and the furnace kicks off, it may be an hour or more before it sees heat again on warmer days. And, in the summer my basement rarely gets above 65 degrees and obviously heat won’t be on that time of year so I decided not to go that route and ordered the heater.
I am headed to get some supplies today while out doing other errands, and I plan on getting interlocking rubber mats. If that doesnt work well enough, I will get 2" insulation board as I use it to winter my bee hives anyways.
@LateNightGardner it crossed my mind but when I had my light on yesterday to test it out my tent temp didn’t rise at all and Im running LED. I am afraid I will need heat from another source. As of now, I plan to have my lights on from 6am-12am during 18/6.
Nice looking set up! Wish I had put more forethought into my setup, but oh well.
Just a bit of advice for temperature stability: During veg (if photo) or whole grow (for autos) use a mechanical timer and set your lights to 6/2, 6/2, 6/2. Still 18/6 but split out like that helps keep temps more stable. I was having temp swings of 15+ degrees, now my day/night periods only vary by about 5 degrees. My plants are extremely happy and growing at a ferocious rate.
Best of luck to you on your grow!
Nice setup! Abundant Growing to you, sir!
@Fiz that’s a great idea! Ive read about that time schedule in other posts but didn’t think of it for my situation so I appreciate you bringing that up! I’m sure it will be beneficial. My mechanical timer is built into my power strip seen in the one picture so getting the 6/2 going won’t be a problem. Thanks!
@JAQ thank you!
You’re welcome! I would never have thought of the idea but picked it up from @merlin44 (iirc!) - he does veg that way and then into a different schedule for flowering.
It’s simple with the mechanical timer, it would be a pain with a digital, I think.
Beans should be here tomorrow. Getting pretty excited.
My little 1500w space heater came today to get the tents temps where they need to be. I have 3 different sources inside the tent as of now to take temperature. I didnt expect to see such a difference between the Vivosun display and the Cloudline controller.
Im also realizing now that there is way to much of a temp drop allowed with the internal thermostat on my space heater. Im going to need to get a different thermostat to keep things in check.
Ok, so I swapped out heaters. I stole my wifes oscillating heater and it works much better. However, with the temp set at 78, its still dropping to 72 before it kicks back on. So, I have an Inkbird temp and rh controller on the way that should take care of that problem . This heater takes up way less space as well not having a milk crate in there.
Another thing I’ve determined is the Vivosun digital display and outdoor sensor is junk.
Its official, at 6:30pm, they went in the drink. Four WW and two AK47. Two of the WW will go outdoors, maybe all four of them, we will see what kind of space is left in the tent when that time comes.
I don’t like my options of outlets in the basement where my tent is. Im currently plugged into two light fixtures so I have to leave the basement light switch on to have power to my tent. I am going to wire in a new 15amp circuit with 2-3 outlets.
