14-10 with photos?

Just curious if anyone has tried switching to a 14 on and 10 off light schedule with photoperiods?
I’m trying it out now and switched at week 4 of flower.
Just seeing if it produces more trichomes or denser buds. Any suggestions or information concerning this topic would be appreciated.
Thanks

I ran 10 on 14 off for the last 2 weeks of flower last grow. Had a great harvest, but don’t know if it increased anything, as I didn’t have a “control” for the experiment.

I’m definitely interested in seeing how this works out. I’ve thought about something similar, starting them at 14 or so and gradually dropping the lights on hours. I wonder if that would make it take longer to flower like it seems to outside. The trade off potentially being, longer colas.

I’m trying it in another tent at the start of flower.
I’ll take pics of both and see what happens.

That shoukd 10 on 14 off if you want them to finish faster and put on more weight !

This is just an experiment. I want to see if it goes back into veg or if it will continue to flower. This might be a bad idea. We will see😁

To revert it you need 18 hours or 24 and plain ph water , are they can hermaphrodite

Increasing light hours at the end of flower is the opposite of what nature does. I think the convention is more to follow fewer hrs and lower intensity to mimic the harvest sun. But, if you don’t try, how else you going to know.

Good luck. I think you’re asking for issues with herm, or very slow flowering, but let us know.

Don’t forget to set your clocks and timers ahead this weekend. :smiley_cat:

Looking good i know with autos if you give them more light they produce more trichomes and terpenes and this 48hours of darkness before harvesting is bro science so Dr bruce bugbee clearly says in one of the podcasts he does with mr grow it ,but as for photos its totally different

Do you start at 12/12 and at a certain point swith to 10/14? Or 10/14 through entire flower? Just curious

Its a choice , normally after week 6 i switch to 10/14 !

Would I have to increase my light intensity due to 2 less hours of light on the plants or just leave it as I’m on 12/12?
Thanks a ton yoshi for taking time to answer my questions.

I know, for the most part, we all go 12/12, and say it takes 12 hours uninterrupted darkness to initiate flower.

However, seeing the 14/10 reminded me of my outdoor grows in the late 70’s in Alabama. Our outdoor plants would always change to flower by mid to late August . . . in those days I never thought about a light cycle at all. I have since looked at day/night times for that time of year, it seems they all began to flower while still getting about 14 hours of sunlight per day. Thinking about it now, they would have to start flower while the days are longer or they would never finish before frost/cold nights ended the season. Of course that may have all just been the local strain as what we were growing had been grown regionally for generations

Might be interesting to see if a 14/10 light cycle would initiate flowering without going to 12/12 right off the bat.

It will but the root zone wont be stable , sone hybrids will try to do both veg and bloom and than turn hermie , ive tried it several times . But if he has a good landrace pheno thats conditioned to that light period , they will grow just not every strain will is what i learned .
