100+ degree weather

I’m in central Ca and we have 100+ forecast for next 10 days. I am growing Ice og in 35 gallon tan cloth pots with FFHF. I water every other day normally. Should I increase to daily? Dont see and heat damage yet but worried because so many days in a row. O and they are regular seeds not feminized or autos.

Thank you.

That’s a good thing as regs are more robust. You may need to up the watering, just pay attention to the plant and give it to them if they’re asking for it.

Yes definitely give them extra water until the heat wave slows down some, I’m on the East coast and it’s been a scorcher here, I finally had a good rain yesterday, so I don’t have to water today, Good Luck with your grow

Thanks for all the ideas. First time growing so I put them in diffrent spots to see where I should grow next year. 2 have midday shade from a tree. Other 2 I might have to get sun shade.

It was 121 degrees Fahrenheit today at my spot…:angry::rage::face_with_symbols_over_mouth:
I don’t know if I could even attempt to grow outside here…
Hard to say…
When I was in Humboldt county , temps hit 100 degrees every now and than…
But nothing like where I’m at now…
The devil’s tante… :hot_face::angry::rage::face_with_symbols_over_mouth::shushing_face::zipper_mouth_face::no_mouth::roll_eyes:
Indoors only and it’s still a challenge to manage… :+1::wink:

Are they in pots? If so, remove them to a shady spot, you can water more but at some point the plants will slam shut their stomata and transpitation will slow way down, thats whats happening when a plant wilts due to excessive heat. The reason for the wilting is two fold, it reduces surface area facing the sun and is caused by decreased hydrostatic pressure as water flow is effectively reduced.
My greenhouse is hitting 105 American at peak daylight temperature for the next week or so. The way I combat this is greater soil mass. I water deep and less often. The idea is to sequester water deeper where the soil temps stay cooler and thus the root system is driven down a couple feet. I can water once every 3 or 4 days at 105 American.

Is it true wilting makes plants Hardy? I had some looking dead, I watered them within 30 minutes you couldn’t even tell they were wilted

Thats called turgidity, the plant wilts to conserve water, when a surplus exists it will draw up on it by opening its stomata and transpiring. The act of sweating causes hydrostatic pressure in the root zone thus water is lifted. When we strip leaves off of plants it reduces the amount of hydrostatic pressure a plant can create and places a plant in a water deficit. This deficit may explain why plants create more resin when stripped? The water stress is likely responsible.

Cannabis is actually a pretty tough plant when matured, I think sometimes we have a tendency to overdo things I do things like too much water or Nukes, but that explains what’s going on with the like of water, I found out how bad miracle grow is to cannabis one year it burned my plant’s up, Never again will I use it

They seem to be enjoying all the sun.

My big girl is loving the sun…i tried to get the whole bud in the pic, but its about 20 inches right now, cant wait…got to go spray some Captain Jack bug brew tho

Nice looking plants…your cloth pots…I’ve seen people put the white insulation around the cloth pots to help keep the root system cooler…I grow out doors…I I dig a hole and stick my cloth pots in the whole…I then put slabs of slate rock around the plant…to keep roots cool…this will make a huge difference if you can achieve this…when you water you raise your slabs up to water.roots will grow under neath…help keep ,hold moisture inn.just add hand full of your soil you use to cover the new roots…your plants will get much bigger…just a thought…

Should get get some that kelp stuff? Heard it’s suppose to help with heat stress.

I ended up just doing that. Went foot and a half deep. Will hopefully help with keeping roots cool. Also they keep growing was about to peak over my 6 foot fence and didn’t want to top trim her again

Also I got kelp shit off Amazon seems like they perked up some after 2 feedings of it.
