Ok first off switch lights to 18 on 6 off
nowhere on the plant will you get 40 hours of sun per day
And stop pulling off the leaves
Sounds to me like your stressing them out to much
Why did you dig the one plant up ?
Can you post a picture
It will help me help you
Also the first 3-4 weeks the plants have slower upward growth as they work on there foundation ie the roots
