Zampano's First Outdoor Grow 🌞

Hello from the Deep South!

Welcome to my Outdoor Grow journal.

I’m still very new to the world of growing my own.
I’m currently in the middle of my 2nd indoor grow but wanted to venture outdoors and see what i could accomplish.

I live in zone 8b: Long, hot days. Air thick enough it feels like a sweater and sometimes relentless rain that lasts for days. I know this be quite the challenge, but i know it can be done.

(Its been said that if the state would recognize the monetary potential we’d be the capital of cannabis in the south…but i dont think we’ll ever see any sort of legalization.)

To Begin

On the menu is 2 Purple Kush and 1 Northern Lights.
The PK was chosen because of its tolerance to my climate, the NL is for its medicinal purposes.

I started my seeds on 2/25, admittedly sooner than necessary but i wanted this to be a smooth process.

We hardened off for a week (more like 2) and are now outside 24/7. At night i bring them onto the porch - however next week they will be taken to their forever home on the far side of my property to do their thing.

I’ve went to great lengths to be proactive when it comes to pests; Neem Cake was used at the time of transplant and a second, top dressing was applied last week. Ive also began using Captain Jack’s BT spray (2 applications). Also in the arsenal is Trifecta Crop Control, Growers Ally Fungicide and Captain Jack’s Dead Bug.

I’ve also planted many herbs and flowers to work as trap plants, pollinators and to attract predatory bugs, in addition to a bird feeder in the area to attract birds to help with things.

Nutes I’ll be using the Advanced Nutrients lineup with all the hits, as well as microbial solutions and your standard Silica and Cal-Mag combination.

Today was the first day of actual Nutes for the NL, up until now they’ve only been given a combination of Tap, Silica, Cal-Mag and B52 but the ppms in the soil are starting to run low.

I encourage anyone to join along in my adventures. I welcome any constructive-criticism and tips from experienced growers. Let’s get this party started!

I’ll update my journal as things progress, but for now some pictures to show where we began to where we are now.

Hi, nice details… I am completely!, and utterly stoopid when it comes to the South.. I’ve been to Missouri when i was 16, lol (62 now), only cuz my Moms family lives there..IT WAS HOT! HUMID AS HELL, like you say, like wearing a sweater…but other than that I know nothing of your area.
You talk a lot about your pest, you seriously have to use that much stuff to keep passed away from your girls in the South? Pest Like Wildlife or just bugs? Again completely naive, born and raised in Redondo Beach, in Southern California… pest I have are the damn caterpillars, the white flies. I’ve had the white fungus once, once my dog dug up a few in my garden, but other than that no problems like you face. I do use the almighty CAPTN JACKS DEAD BUG BREW once a week when that time starts…but feel for your fight to grow..

I didnt want to risk anything.
Prior to getting started i asked a few experienced outdoor growers what they used for pest control and these were the things suggested to me.

The only animals i anticipate dealing with will be deer but ive built a fence around the area where my plants will go, that and a dog that chases anything and anyone off.

Hey growmie. A few more things you can use for pest mold and powdery mildew is pure crop 1, or lost coast plant therapy. Both of them help with pest and PM and can be sprayed during flower. Your plants looks health though. Are they auto flowers as some look to be flowering already.

They’re Autos, yes.
One of them showed signs of flower almost right away but i just rolled with it, she’s still growing.

@Zampano I’m growing autos for the first this year. It’s still below freezing here almost every night. So i won’t pop my auto seeds until almost June. My photos are started and about 3 weeks old.
