Yellowing leaves at beginning of flowering

I’m a rather naive beginner with one pretty, Jack Herer fem’d that I’ve grown in a large pot on my sunny deck and it’s been beautiful and strong, and is now just starting to produce flower (many).
My question is, is it normal for some underneath/bottom leaves to suddenly turn yellow at the beginning of the flowering stage?
Thank you!
Bill

Yes, it is normal for a plant to shed its lower leaves as it ages.

Thanks Midwest Guy. It just started so suddenly, and right when the buds started to appear, that I wasn’t sure if it needed something.

Hello, I am a new user. I have 3 plants, mostly healthy except one has a bunch of yellow leaves which I have systematically been pruning. The root systems are very dense and I wonder if somehow the nutrients aren’t getting in. Plants are in huge pots so can’t really dig them up at this point … Happy to send pictures if helpful . I have an old PH meter the kind that you stick into the soil ( not even sure if it’s accurate) and it comes up as close to 8 which is too high I’ pretty sure. I just switched over to BLOOM fertilizer from GROW. Any guidance appreciated. Pots are outdoors, full sun, I water every 1-2 days , spray antifungal and anti bug stuff a few times per week.

You should still be feeding Grow, particularly with a significant number of yellowing leaves. The lack of nitrogen (or perhaps a bad pH) is the cause. Nitrogen is very important throughout the entire grow, but the first 5 weeks of flowering are very important, as this is the period over which the plant will experience the most rapid growth. It is nitrogen that powers that growth.

Pronged meters are notoriously inaccurate and they cannot be calibrated. Apera and Bluelab both make good meters.
