So ive had 1 harvest with 5 100w full spec led bulbs plus an 80w blurple light. I see posts where ppl have problems with a 1000w grow light. Why is this? They say it will get them thru veg but not flower. How is 500w able to work but not 1000w?
Because those “1000w” lights are not 1000 real watts and more in the 100 watt range. Just like your 100w full spec led bulbs aren’t really 100 watts and more like 20 real watts.
So why do mine work and theirs dont? If my 100w are only 20 then how did i flower with 100w. I dont get it
They’ll work for you and them, you can flower a plant with a cheap $50 amazon 1000w blurple, but yields will be low.
For example, I have 820 real watts of LED and can pull near 2 pounds a harvest, someone running a 100 watt blurple would be lucky to get 3-4 oz a harvest
You don’t get 1000 LED watts in one little light like you see on amazon for a couple hundred bucks or less, that’s just chinese marketing BS.
This is what 820 real watts of LED looks like and costs over $1400
Gotcha. I assumed they meant it wouldnt flower at all bc of insufficient light or par. But li understand. Its just more yield with more expensive lighting
And tight buds, had LARFY buds till @Hellraiser talked me into spending my lunch money & getting a good light. Glad he did too.
So i already pay more than my neighbors in electricity so how much more would actual 500w cost.
Is that from 1 plant?
No, I usually do 4 plants topped and vegged around 8 weeks in a 3x3x7 tent.
My current Zkittlez grow
Probably around $30 more a month in flowering depending on your city’s electricity rates, less in veg as you don’t need 500 watts in veg, half that would be more than sufficient.
I agree with the 30 bucks I think it’s pretty much spot-on.
These guys have you in good shape.
500 watts for 12 hours is 6000 watt/hours.
500 watts for 18 hours is 9000 watt hours.
Most pay for their electricity per 1000 watt hours, or kwh. So 500 watt light for 18 hours/day is 9 kwh. Multiply usage by rate from there.
9kw @ $.10/kwh= $.90/day
9kw @ $.15/kwh= $1.35/day
One thing that could sway that is surcharges or discounts. Some get penalized for excessive usage, some get price break on off peak hours. Everywhere is different like they said, so hard to say exactly for sure.
God I love that picture!!!
And they are in a 3x3 - good grief - not for the uninitiated.
Thanks everyone. I understand now.
