Just wondering…
If your at the top ?
Than why are you asking questions… ?
not sure of your question. Benefit of training / LST or …?
Correct, what is the benefit to apply LST?
LST has to do with creating as even and large canopy surface area as possible. This provides the best distribution of light. A couple inches difference in height has a significant difference in the PPFD delivered to an area. Likewise, there is a significant drop off of PPFD at the perimeter of the light’s footprint. That is why you want the light used to be properly sized to the grow space.
Any PPFD chart illustrates what I am saying. Look at the center reading at any given height. Compare that reading at a different height. Similarly, notice the lower numbers at the perimeter of the chart vs the center reading.
These are two young plants immediately following LST
Almost a month later and a week into flower
The plant on the right side is and always has been a little bigger and a more robust grower. You can see she is slightly taller than the other one.
To try to keep her in check and not letting her get drastically taller than her tent mate, I dropped the net on her. Again, this is intended to level the canopy side to side and front to back as much as possible
Not the best photo
I bent and folded the taller one under the net
That seriously looks incredible! Nice work and can not wait to learn and progress to yields I can only imagine you are harvesting!
I am still very much learning on my feet and want to home my growing skills before I take that next step into LST.
Very cool mate, very cool
Thanks I do have to admit yields are improving but truthfully that is not why I grow. It is the byproduct of just doing a better job.
have done some further pruning plus some very junior armature LST ??
Used a couple of garden stakes, held branch away from stem, gently positioned stake so it held branch away from stem.
What do you think??
A step in the right direction. If you have the whole floor of the tent available, I would bend and flatten them out more. Under any circumstance you will want to bend the tall main stem. All of the growth hormones are directed at the tallest part so it will grow faster and more than the other parts. The size difference will therefore be even more pronounced.
I will punch holes in the rim of the pot to attach my tiedowns to. Bend a little today, then more tomorrow and keep at it. You will feel and learn how much they can take. If it breaks, wrap it up and it will heal.
Cheers, baby steps!
