I do have a couple threads, if ya wanna check em out. I use FoxFarms soils and Green Planet nutes. I sometimes use all the complicated nutrient amendments that are available, but when I want simple I use the MediOne, it’s all the stuff for a sprout-to-harvest grow in one bottle. I usually do that when life gets too busy I am kinda neglecting my garden
Sorry for not replying not trying to be rude you have found the best group of helpful and knowledgeable growmies here and if one don’t know they know some that do welcome to the fourm @Krista
I’m gonna be honest I didn’t read all the way through your journey here, but if you have a big enough space my advice is to run both photo and auto, will get 2x the yield from auto by the time the photos are done.
Example I have a 4x4 Tent and I run 3 autos and 2 photos.
And in my 2x2 currently I have a single auto in it is about half the age of the autos in my tent, so I’m trying to get 4 autos done and started before flipping my photos, then I will start 3 more autos in the 4x4 and start the new round of photos about week 4 or 5 of flower so I don’t over grow my 2x2.
Using spider farmer SE 7000 light it’s 750w in the 4x4.
Thank you @DanB for all the advice and information
I was curious about running both and decided against it since it’s my first grow and I didn’t want to overwhelm myself.
I’m moving into a new house next month and for my second grow I’ll do some photos for sure.
I’m glad I grew photos for my first grow. I could list all the types of stress I put those girls through figuring out what I was doing but I don’t have time right now to write a novel. I’m pretty sure though, if they had been autos, they would have hermied for sure and probably would have been a complete failure.
Don’t hesitate to reach out for help when needed. And remember, less is more.
Im curious, wouldn’t you lose the whole advantage of running autos by growing autos and photos in the same tent? If you run through an entire flowering cycle of the autos at high DLI by increased day length, the photos will be gigantic before you flip them. Isnt the whole point of autos that you can hammer them with higher DLI? As for photos, they can be forced to flower as soon as they reach maturity… essentially the same as the auto, except that you cant run them at the longer day length like the autos and thus the DLI is going to be lower. I think thats correct ? Could be wrong? Not an expert in autos or indoor growing.
When I’ve grown both together i just go by the needs of the photo’s as the autos don’t really care how long the lights are on but yes autos will take a bit of a hit on dli numbers according to the charts. I’ve still been able to get decent harvests doin it, at least that’s how ive done it, for sure doesn’t mean it’s the right way.
Heres the charts, these will be helpful for you too @Krista
Photos and autos, hit my photos around 700 ppfd and the autos don’t care, they grow in cold dark conditions ( ruderalis gene traits ). You can get more yield from the autos by themselves but they grow just fine.
It’s not actually 85F in the tent, that’s just the seed mat and I have a towel layer and then my plate with little cups (just keeping them a little warmer)
