When to flip Goldleafs in tent / height concerns

Got any hardwood firewood? Build a fire burn the wood and let it cool and collect the ashes… pot ash.
I typed potashium as a reference to pot ash as burning wood the ashes contain potassium as well as other minerals etc that the tree while growing collected. Haha
Look up Langbeinite it will add potassium and sulfur to soil but won’t raise PH as its relatively neutral.
Dolomite lime can help.

I have also used solution grade Langbeinite all of this from down to earth company

Local grow shops carry some of their products in my area or I order from down to earth or Amazon.

Here is a decent article to look through.

Sweet spot for PH in soil is 6.5 but you are in range at 6.2

You can up the PH going in as you water and see how that goes.
Hope this helps

Great info! I do have some dolomite lime but another grower warned it can screw up your PH so now I’m hesitant to use it. I know opinions are like a**holes everyone’s got one :).

Will probably try the wood ash and up the PH little more of water going in.

I’m testing runoff about mid way (not first bit that comes out and not last). Weird I can’t get it to go up especially since FF ocean forest is supposed to be PH’d to 6.3 to 6.8.

I need to research about pulling some soil inside of the pot out and maybe running a slurry test. I think it would have to be towards the bottom and I don’t wanna damage any roots. The positive is that I’m learning more with these issues I’m having vs everything going smoothly

When you use dolomite lime or wood ash or whatever you want to raise PH gradually and not shock it up unless it doesn’t have plants in it and you are getting it ready for another grow.
Dolomite lime isn’t as fast as wood ash especially if you put it in water and let it steep for a few and then use that but again go conservative baby steps.

I use this for measuring soil PH

Couple different names but they all look like from same maker and I wrote up a review of how I use them and how they work

BTW jus5 by adding organic compost or worm poop that will help move PH upwards as it helps neutralize the acids that tent to collect as soil ages but again is a slow process because usually soil at bottom gets more acidic or faster than top does…my understanding anyway and what I’ve experienced

If you do use dolomite lime look on package and see what ratio of Calcium to magnesium as it may not be optimal
Shoot for a 3 calcium to one magnesium or there about and if needed add something with just calcium to get ratio like oyster powder or crab meal etc
