Hey everyone, I had a quick question as to when you guys recommend I begin to add nutrients and how I should do it/cycle it (a step by step outline would be much appreciated<3). My plant is about 8 days old and it is being grown with my Viparspectra 300 watt light. Pictures of the plant will be included below. The supplements I bought are Fox Farm Big Bloom and Fox Farm Grow Big. Thank you for reading this far!
What is the medium that you are using is it also Fox Farm and out of curiosity are they at autos or Fem
Yes it’s also Fox Farm and it’s literally a seed I found in my Girl Scout Cookies and decided to grow because it looked like it would be good! hahaha @Hogmaster
Wait a while
The soil has everything you need. Your plant might be a foot tall before you really need to add nutes. A good rule of thumb is after the 4th node has formed you can lightly fertilize.
Thank you, very solid tip! How should I mix the nutes into the plant? Should I follow the instructions on the label of the nutes or should I do something else?
Yeah, I would follow the instructions except half strength for the first few applications. I feed when watering and that way you can add nutes then ph the water before adding. The nutes will definitely lower ph so get some ph up or use baking soda.
I also use an organic dry fertilizer from Black Magic that I apply sparingly before every 3rd watering to the surface of the soil. But! Watch your plants. They are the ones that will tell you what they want. Listen to them.
@Myfriendis410 How often do you water your plants? My plant was watered last night and the surface already feels dry, I don’t know if I’m supposed to water them again or just leave them? Thank you!
This is where a cheap moisture meter might be a good idea until you get a feel for what the pots feel like wet versus dry. My current grow is 3 plants, 12 to 14 inches high, all fems, in 5 gallon smart pots with FFOF and they get watered to runoff (2 gallons each) about once every 5 days. I let them go almost to droopy leaves. This promotes root development and stimulates vegetation later. Ph 6.5 every time. Keep in mind though that your situation may be different with ambient humidity and Temps that may make a radical departure from what I’m doing. Technically I have an inside grow, but they go outside as much as possible.
My grow is in a greenhouse I built out of wood and painters tarp. I covered every possible inch with dark garbage bags so no light escapes. I keep my light on 18 hours a day. The temperature stays in the 80s regularly (I know it should be lower, I’m going to make it better haha) and I feel like it’s very humid, so I’m kind of stuck on what I should do lol, thank you for the help!
When they are small like that they won’t need a lot of water.
What I do when they are small is to use a Spray bottle and mist the soil to keep it moist. I spray the Base of the plant a little more heavily than the rest of the soil so that it soaks in and gets down to the roots. Overwatering is easy to do when they are young. Once my plants get around 4 or 5 nodes you can actually water them, meaning you can dump a little water on them. I usualy continue to use the spray bottle and take the top off from it and use my thumb so the water doesn’t pour out to fast. You want to let it dry out enough so the roots will grow outward searching for water.
