Whistle log, stardate unknown. I’ve been in the lab for days, man. Things have snowballed and suddenly I have several projects going at once, so I reckon it best I try to document things as best as I can. I currently have Blue Dream Auto in DWC on its third week of veg. I also have a Love Potion, a Marley’s Grin, and a Mephisto’s Wedding x Manbearalienpig all autos, all in 7 gallon fabric pots with FFHF and 20% perlite. I would consider them first week of veg. I have a Durban Poison clone in coco and perlite from a plant I just harvested in her 4th week of flower and I am battling spider mites on her. Annnnnnd i also just sprouted 3 Old Man Strength IX thinking I might pop a male or maybe 1 or 2 might not pop. However, I learned today they are feminised and all three sprouted. Soooooo there’s that. Anyhoo, i am new to the game and learning on the fly, but feel free to follow along. If nothing else it should be entertaining!
Just harvested at 4 weeks of flower? Did i read that correctly? Also if you have spider mites on 1 plant, the rest of your grow is infested also. I spent a year getting rid of those things…
They finally gone?
She’s a clone of a plant I just harvested. The clone is in its 4th week of flower. And actually there are no other plants with the mites. Just her. She is in isolation and has been as she is photo and the rest of my grow are autos. I have been treating with diatomaceous earth and that has been helping immensely.
Yea man. Before i flipped the last batch, i elbow greased the bus and treated with 3 different solutions along with a final wipe down of the walls with a bleach solution and vacuuming in between treatments… 4 weeks in and not a hint of ANYTHING knock on wood…
I even cleaned and treated the veggie room…
Once you have spider mite your plant is pretty much gone. Unless you want to vape spider mites. I will pass.
I know I would not vape on a plant that has been treated with any pesticide or insecticide and I don’t care how organic or safe they say it is. This is my lungs. You do not want to screw around with that. Not worth the risk. Basically the plant needs to go and then you need to just use a whole can of a pesticide and cover every inch inside and outside the grow tent. Then seal it up for 48 hours and then wash off the pesticide you used on every inch of the grow tent. You also want to treat the room your grow tent is in and outside the entrance to the room. You want to treat the outside the grow tent. Once you have aired everything out and clean any remaining pesticide off, you can a a a start growing again. But about once a week you want to spray out side the tent and keep any vent shut if possible. But once they are on your plant to were you can easily see them there are 1000’s of them hiding in the buds. Even if you’re using Organic pesticides you probably have to use so much that you’re going to just kill the plants. I had a plant that had spider mites and it was about 10 weeks along and I just tried using pesticides and basically I just ended up killing the throwing the plant away. I just I had to use so much pesticides to get them all and then the plant died anyway. Also all the other plants in that grow tent are also infested.
I hate to be the person delivering bad news and the one telling you that basically all your plants are no good anymore.
Preach to another choir boss. Not being an a$$, but ive been growing over 20 years. Do some research before spreading false information. This isnt the first time ive battled mites. I also bud wash with a 3 step method when i harvest. I also have microscopic photos that show a bud wash is nearly 100% effective removing foreign debris. Im not trying to start an argument, everyone is entitled to their opinion.
If we threw out every plant that had mites, a lot of folks would never get a harvest! I’ve killed spider mites twice over the years and even broad mites one time. Broad mites are spider mites with 3 peckers on cocaine! Lol
I am gonna keep on trucking. As i said the plant with mites is in isolation and none of my other plants have mites.
Spray it with Jacks Deadbug every 3 days for 2 weeks and your mites will be gone! Soak them, under leaves as well. Just do a bud wash at harvest, you can fix this!
Thanks! I will give it a shot! I was pretty bummed at first, but after talking to my BIL and a commercial grower friend of mine, its not as horrible as I once thought. Just another obstacle to maneuver!
I have had mites now 3 times. Actually just did some defol on all leafs showing mite damage and then did a 9 day treatment every 3 days with growers ally and then I will bud wash at harvest. Mites can come in via pets, you, other plants, the wind…So even if you clean your area, they can be reintroduced. If caught early and you manage it until harvest, the bud will be fine. They make alot of options now that are safe all the way up til flower to use.
Whistle Log, All Hallow’s Eve. Things are getting exciting in the lab! Lots of growth, and great responses to pruning and nute regimen. I had to add a gallon to my DWC, she is drinking about a quart a day and hasnt shown signs of flowering. I also had to swap lights, she has gotten too large and surpassed the coverage area of the light she was under. She has 240 watts to herself now and I kicked the intensity up to 100%.
The 3 autos in HF have responded well to the pruning of their top leaves. Daily growth is visible and I think after 2 more nodes I will begin LST. I was told autos are good in HF for the first 4-5 weeks, so I have been watering with 6.0ph water with Silica and Cleankelp and will most likely continue for the next 2 weeks unless deficiencies emerge.
Whistle Log, 77th anniversary of the first NBA game. Minor crisis in the lab this morning. I went to check the water level in my DWC and noticed almost zero airflow through my stone. I swapped the stone. No change. Swapped ports. No change. I checked the hose for kinks or collapsed sections to no avail. Replaced air line. 100% improvement. I can find no damage or anything on the old line. I am at a loss. Perhaps the Universe was just checking to see if I was paying attention.
The 3 autos in HF look happy this morning. Vigorous new growth and standing proud. One of the OMS sprouts is flipped around, another stalled, but the 3rd is standing proud.
This is my first time growing in DWC and I am unsure if it is the method, the plant, or a combination of the two, but the growth rate is incredible to me! Its almost as if the plant can’t keep up with itself. Maybe its the Durban Poison talking, but I swear you can watch this plant grow.
Whistle Log. 24 years since the first resident crew arrived at the ISS. Everyone seems happy and healthy in the lab. Blue Dream Baby Queen appears to possibly be in preflower. Her daily growth still astounds me, I may convert over to DWC for all grows.
The three Musketeers are all doing well. Vigorous growth continue. MW X MBAP seems to be slightly bolder than the other two, though it may be contributed to her mostly Indica genetics.
Whistle Log, 1,453 months since Panama declared independence from Columbia. The lab is a green oasis. Blue Dream Baby Queen is drinking 1 gallon every 3 days. I was apprehensive about following the Lotus Nutrient feeding schedule because autos are so sensitive, but I have followed it exactly and she is flourishing!
The Three Amigas are all doing well. Lots of growth and a healthy green. No feed yet as a lot I have read states that there is no need to feed autos in HF for the first 4-5 weeks. They have been getting ph’d water with silica and Cleankelp.

Another wrinkle in my old demented dark humored thc riddled brain… Grassy Ass Senior…
Its like they say, “The more you know!”
Whistle Log, 37,256 days since the discovery of King Tut’s tomb. Blue Dream Baby Queen continues to flourish in preflower. I cut away some lower fans and underbrush in hopes of pushing energy to the tops. I m doing bits at a time in an attempt to avoid stressing her, although she is a healthy plant so I reckon she can take it. I installed a fancy round airstone that suction cups to the bottom of the bucket. It seems to have a better bubble pattern and i think it will increase my dissolved 02 levels.
It may be my perception, but it looks to me that all three ladies in HF gained quite a bit of height since yesterday. All three continue to look healthy and vibrant. I did my first, what I would call “actual” watering yesterday so I am curious to see what the next few days bring.
