What should I do? Hermie

Was looking over my plants today and saw one of the worst sites a grower can see. Can anyone tell me what I should do? I’m seeing balls in various spots. Should I toss this plant of pick them off and hope I can save it?

Some suggest just picking them off. It’s great if you are up for plucking for the next 6 to 8 weeks, however; the plant will continue to produce male pods for most of the remainder of its life. Choose your poison, as neither is fun. Continually looking at all the nodes every few days and plucking pods as they come up will be a PITA.

Sorry to see it.

Probably gonna scrap it. Don’t ever buy Girl Scout cookies from Hermboldt seed company.

Do they offer refund or exchanges? Show them the pics and they’ll probably hook you up. Most companies will.

I’m not sure. I just called them and left a message to call me back.

It has nothing to do with the strain. Hermies happen and it has little to do with the seed vendor either.

Ideally Humboldt Seed helps you out.

I just hope the plant that was right next to it didn’t get any pollen on it.

I didn’t see any pods opened. You caught it early.

If you haven’t moved it yet spray it with water then cover it with a bag then have at it. If the neighboring plant is in flower it probably has seeded. But depending on how early into flower you are and how long it’s been exposed will ultimately determine how many seeds you’ll have. Short exposure can cause a minor annoyance but long term will be an 80’s flashback unfortunately….

I just started week 3 of flower. I moved it out of my tent but didn’t spray it or bag it and it rubbed up against my tent when I was pulling it out. Man I hope I didn’t pollinate my other plant. I checked and I don’t see any sacs on that one yet.

You can look to see if any of the pollen sacs have opened yet. They peel back similar to the petals of a flower and dump practically invisible dust into your atmosphere. That’ll at least give you an idea of your predicament.

How long would it take for the other plant to show if it hermed or not?

Do you mean got seeded or has the potential to also herm on ya?? That’s a loaded question because they can herm at the end of flower just as easily. Depends on what stressor caused the actual herm.

I mean if the plant that I just got rid of pollinated my other plant, how long will it take to show? I’m only on day 15 of flower.

Sometimes you can locate seeds in the calyx but other times they’re buried inside of the bud so I don’t have an answer for that. Maybe a more experienced grower will chime in?

Oh ok. I thought it would start throwing out pollen sacs everywhere if it got pollinated.

If it got pollinated then she’s a girl and she’d just switch gears from full on flowering to seed creation. Pollen itself doesn’t create or trigger more pollen from other plants.

But if the other plant were to also hermie it would likely be that there’s an environmental stressor you need to figure out

Thanks for the help. We’ll see what happens. I spoke to the breeder and they told me that switching from 18/6 and going right to 12/12 light schedule can really stress out some cookies and cake strains. Which is what I did. So maybe that’s what caused it.
