I’m getting ready to trim my first branch and was curious as to what’s the variety of ways people like to trim their buds. This is not the “wet versus dry” question this is wanting to know your style of trimming, do you trim as much as you want all at once or do you trim little by little to possibly multiply the output? Thoughts like that; what do you like to think about when you are trimming?
If this kind of topics is off topic please shout out.
I trim for appearances unless I know it’s for edibles. Then I barely trim at all.
My thoughts are always about flower density, where this flower is located in relation to the amount of light it may have received, flower stacking, flower quality, trichrome color, terpenes, and testing product while I work. @free-zone50
I wet trim since I live in a very humid environment - in the winter I lean towards dry trimming if rh is low. I either throw some music on or a JRE podcast and crank it out. I do my best but honestly if it’s a few plants that need to come down at the same time the last bit is not as well done as the first. I’m working on limiting larf to make it easier. The one GDP gave me like 2-3 oz and took probably 30 minutes to trim the whole plant. Short stacked nugs with minimal leaves
Does anybody know if any kind of spreadsheet or app for noting various aspects or characteristics of their buds? At a minimum I am going to write down date, obviously, smell, look, density, that kind of trait or any related info.
Thanks ,I’ll look at it. Here’s a shot of, my test branch which has been drying for about 24 hours. I trimmed the larger leaves and saved them into 2 separate paper bags, larger fan leaves and the next size down trim leaves that I might use somehow.
So, my question is, should the buds be trimmed some more after they dry some more and before I cure them, or left as is?
Well…First thing …pink floyd on the stereo so dont think much… i wet trim 99%of the time, pull the bud a little and snip the fans AND the Sugar leafs as close to the stem as possible, takes a bit longer this way but the end product is sooo much nicer! I take all the wet trim and freeze it, let it set in there for a week and then make Ice Hash and heat press rosin(shatter) from the hash-- no chems…just water for one and heat for the other=clean taste smooth smoke and good meds! Out of almost 3/4lb of trim and airy popcorn crap, got 10gr hash and 7gr of clean amber shatter.
I wet trim 99% of the time (the only time I won’t is because of time constraints that might force me to hang plants prior to trimming), but I use a bowl trimmer - I don’t hand trim.
I do the same with all my fresh frozen trim now. I had been winterizing it and using a Source Turbo, but now I am pressing it as well. Recently I did ice water hash with a one gallon bag of trim and the final, end result was 5.9g of very nice rosin. For a bunch of trim I would otherwise throw away, I’ll happily take that.
Yep, I love my little press(the name also) and bags! The 1 gal size frustrated me so I got the 5 bag 5 gal set and made it easier on me, Lol…but your right… I’ve either smoked the junk or just tossed it… nice to have the extra!!
I like to let them hang for a week but I let the entire plant hang then I trim them up and then I do a final trim after they’ve dried fire up a few doobies and grab a few pairs of scissors
