TY i proud of myself being my first grow… And def gonna wait it out… Question do they really have to cure n jars for 2-3 ive even heard 6 months b4 you smoke is true?? im really gonna have ants n my pants if so haha…
TY its been tedious watching and taking care of them day n day out but really excited each day to see them get fatter!!
I feel they get better with time, but haven’t really noticed a whole lot of difference after like 8-10 weeks. I think there are a few variables that can make it take a bit longer, like being dried properly. But if you burp properly I would expect you to have solid smoke after 3-4 weeks. With some improvements going out to the 8-10 week period.
@dbrn32 what is “burping” ?? remember im a newbie at this lol…
Burping is pretty much opening jar regularly to allow the chemicals to escape and introduce fresh air.
You’ll see a few different methods that can all be successful. I usually jar after drying with a small hygrometer, but it’s not necessary. For the first week or so I’ll open the jars and gently dump the buds out for a few minutes every few hours if possible. Then I’ll move to doing it a couple of times a day for a week or so. Then once a day there after until I get to 55-60% rh when stabilized. Then I’ll throw a 62% boveda pack in them and call it done. I plan to try the 58% boveda packs, but they weren’t available last time I ordered. And the hygrometers can be a big help if you’re unsure, but like I said not necessary.
Perhaps @bob31 or @Countryboyjvd1971 have a better method or can link a more descriptive guide to getting properly cured buds?
@dbrn32 I have purchased both items you spoke of the measure moisture n jars and I also have 32oz mason jars and the 62% boveda packs… Question Ive stopped all nutes at this point since i only have a couple weeks left is this ok?? Its wayyy too cold where I am to flush them outside…
Based on the pic you posted last week I wouldn’t have stopped freeding. I’m also probably the wrong person to ask lol. I usually don’t pull off feeding until I’m about 5-7 days from harvest. Sometimes I’ll even feed molasses inside of that. I also run organic nutes at a slightly lower ppm the last couple of weeks, so it’s difficult for me to suggest you follow suit.
In your case, I think I would’ve waited til at least you had a lot of pistils turning before I pulled nutes.
I have only watered them twice since stopping nuts I can still add them if you think it would b better sure don’t want to lessen my yield and stopping them too early is prime cause of that… Surely I can start again w next watering which will b tomorrow… Read to let them get dry from fingertip then water… Ive done this but also noticed they are drinking a lot more I water every other day now…
Ya, the heavy drinking is a good sign you shouldn’t have backed off nutes. Just so I don’t have to scroll the whole thread, what are you using for nutes?
The fox farm trio and Open sesame and i have a schedule at this point only using tiger bloom and big bloom says not to use my other nutes at this point in flower…
Thanks for the tag @dbrn32 the only other comment would be slow drying in paper bags. After that you pretty much described my curing method! Nicely done!
Have you flushed per the schedule? And have you been feeding full strength per the schedule?
Hopefully we’re doing it right then lol! What do you think about feeding?
@dbrn32 Yes but W all the input on my pics Im still 3 wks from harvest… I water w distilled Phd water and have watered them only twice since last feeding… I have a batch of nutes w water already Phd and ready to go for am… And yes full strength…
Full nutes till the flush. Stopping early only slows the buds from growing larger. If you don’t flush, then just water to runoff two or three times in last week. But Nutes till the trichomes are just shy of what you are looking for then go to the flush or which ever technique! @dbrn32
glad I’m not the only one thinking that way. Thanks @bob31!
@tlc4235 you’ll be surprised at how many varying opinions you’ll get here. One of the biggest mistakes new growers make is pulling nutes and harvesting too early. With proper care, I wouldn’t be surprised if your buds nearly double in size the last couple of weeks. You want them to be able to feed when they’re swelling.
Yep, couple more weeks! Icky sticky! lol @tlc4235
Yum yum …
@Covertgrower @bob31 @dbrn32 have any of you guys “washed” your colas after harvest?? I watched a video and it’s a little confusing whether to wash or not wash… Also can use reuse the soil from plants already harvested?
The soil is usually really depleted and can be mixed into compost, but I wouldn’t re-use it.
@Myfriendis410 is a big proponent of bud washing @tlc4235
