What is the best way to lower soil ph?

The ph for my soil is at a high of 8 :woozy_face::woozy_face::woozy_face: how can I lower my ph to be between 6 &7

A lot of us use this:

I have that but for some reason the ph is still at 8 . But I’ve only used it once so maybe that’s why? Sorry I’m a first time grower and I’m just confused!! Lol

Are you talking about soil or run off? The GH Ph Down mentioned above is for PHing the water for watering not really amending the soil. If you run enough low Ph water through the medium it will lower the Ph, but I’m sure there are additives you can apply to the soil alone that will help bring it down.
What soil are you using? Most of the “marijuana friendly” soils are in the correct Ph range at purchase. Some maybe more loaded with nutes that others but SUPPOSEDLY, they’re in the correct Ph range.

I’m using ff ocean forest and natures living soil at the bottom . And when I water I just used distilled water

I have a soil ph that tell me the light ; ph; and moisture . And then I have another ph meter for my water

The little 2 prong meter? I wouldn’t trust that.
Most accurate way to measure soil Ph is by doing a slurry test with your pen.

I grabbed one at random. There’s tons of them there.

Probe style ph meters are not reliable. To approximate the soil’s pH you need to measure the pH of
runoff using a pH pen. Runoff is what comes out the bottom of the pot after you water / feed. I was going to suggest doing a soil slurry test but that will not really work in your case because of the two layers of different soil types. Ocean Forest soil mix is supposed to have a pH of 6.3 - 6.8

Are you watering to run off an check your ph also what brand meter do you have ?

This may sound crazy but I’ve never had any run off lmao does that mean I’m under watering ? I have 3 gallon pots

Not necessarily. If you have not used / added nutrients to your water it is less critical. In most cases plants are watered to obtain runoff so pH and PPM can be monitored. A change over time may indicate a problem is arising. For example. When I used soil and fox farm nutrients, if the pH of the runoff decreased .5 I new I needed to address the decrease otherwise the plants would be negatively affected. Most likely by lockout. Some nutrients can not be utilized when the soil is outside of range.
My starting point in determining the .5 decrease is a basic soil slurry test. (Hanna instruments’ website has a good description and video worth looking at) Also keeping record of pH and PPM measurements taken each time I would feed or water.
What I described does not apply to all soil grows. I believe some living soil user are instructed not to water to runoff. In other cases it might be the type of nutrients being used. I am not versed in these methods.

How does your plant look ? I’ll just about bet your ph is not 8 . Post up a picture. I don’t usually water to run off till about week 5 after my soil is depleted and I start to check PPM and PH at that point. I’ve used ocean forest for a long time an never had a 8 PH It will usually drift down to about 5.6 For a low point. If this is a hobby you Plan to continue in the future I recommend look at a digital ph meter apera or blue lab about 50 bucks great troubleshooting tool.
