Wow replace the bulb every year, more like 2x a year the lost lumens after about 7 months convinced me it was cost effective to buy not 1 but 2 new bulbs, 1 for each room. Don’t forget to take your old bulbs along, because like you said they’re toxic. Turn’em n for disposal when you buy your new bulbs, keep 2 for emergency situations. I’ve got a 400W HL ballast, A 600W HL I’m currently using, 3, 1000W HPS Ballast, protective lenses, for the reflectors and 1 hell of a electric bill. I’m lucky enough to have tall walls that allow me to get n the 5 to 5 1/2 ft. range. N the heat they produce even during winter it’s a bit warm n the bud room… I could keep going, but I’m just agreeing with you because it’s a subject I do know about…

Yeah! It is a host of reasons why LED rule not jist tjat they produce a ton of light and are generally cheaper to run
Whoa, whoa, WHOA. Hellraiser, stay away from the chinese junk, they still push old led tech and make up all the specs (watts, PAR, etc) That’s the best advice I’ve gotten on this whole topic.

Hope you don’t mind me chiming in. You’ve seen my tents recently so I figured you might be interested.
I have one hlg550v2 and hlg300r in one, a SF4000 and hlg double board kit in the other.
You can judge for yourself. I bought the SF, listened to the girls and now have less discretionary income.
I realize you asked for the “best” and these aren’t that but you’d need a lot of other things before you could use all those photons. 
And any way you cut it, thats about $800 per tent. The efficiency exchange will give you a Grinchy grin…
No tents, I used them to camp n back n the day. I like a bit more room with a “higher” ceiling, so gots a 8’ ceiling n the basement spare bed room. Ripped out some carpet to expose a beautiful concrete floor. Built the veggy, & bean cracker room to suit my needs. Been doing my homework from ya all, studying up on LEDs, bought a HLG 100v2 for cracking my beans only. Will sypher awhile on next purchase, so many to choose from, n the bi**h is I’m not really limited $$ dollar wise, just so much info. to process. Thank you very much for the help.
