What equipment to buy?

I want to start growing indoors no more than 3 plants(1 or 2 is ok also). It is illegal where im from so i want to be as stealthy as possible. Im looking for very good odor control, energy efficiency, low noise and ideally something automated that needs my gardening skills as less as possible. Are there any automated grow boxes that worth it? Is it better to make my own grow box? I don’t mind something expensive if its good. I would appreciate any help. Thanks

As for automating the grow, look at the threads where growers are using AutoPots. The plants are fed from a reservoir. Once you fill the reservoir, mix your nutrients and adjust the pH you can leave the plants for as long as the reservoir of nutrients lasts. They are most frequently used with coco, but you can use other growing mediums.

I am building a new home and am gone 5 days a week. If it wasn’t for an AutoPot I’d always be worrying if the plants were getting enough water and nutrients. It’s always exciting coming home and seeing the weeks progress.

This is the first tent I bought and am still using now until I set up my bigger tent. It will absolutely conceal any light leakage, the fan inside the tent is quiet and the carbon filter works great to the point there is absolutely no smell at all until I open it up to water or feed her

Many grow tent kits to choose from, 2x4 would be gteat for 2-4 auto flowers or 2 photo periods and fits in alot of closets.
Or if you’re handy you can convert a closet by adding sone vents ducting and exhaust fan with a carbon filter for smell…

As for automation, things like small humidifier and dehumidifier may be needed and can be easily automated with digital controllers that are very expensive.

And autopots automates the watering and feeding of the plants. Just keep an eye on reservoir and refill it as needed.

Lets see id start with a 4x4 tent by melonfarm( you can start using half and fill it out later)
5 gallon fabric pots
home depot viagrow coco coir
Jacks 321 part a AND b
6 inch ac infinity ducting style fan
6 inch ducting and carbon filter
Apera ph pen
Ph down
Cal mag and epson salt
Silica
2-3 small internal clip fans
Digital timer
A GOOD light hlg 260 xl or blackbird is where id start
A way to collect run off if you prefer to go the manual route i use cooling rack on top of drainage pans
Thats the bare minimum i also use fish sh!t , mykos, black strap molaseses, zues juice, and mr fulvic ( that’s if you wanna get massive autos like these 3-4 footers)

Thanks everyone for your replies. I found it really helpful. So from my understanding you don’t believe that there is a ‘‘plug in and play’’ automated grow box that is worth its money. You also prefer grow tents from grow boxes(i can buy a tent and put it in a closet or smth) and you suggest hydroponics, auto flowers and auto pots. Is that correct? I must also note that i live near the sea and we have high humidity all over the year and warm summers and i’m extra concerned about temperature and humidity control

There are some plug and play grow systems grow closet and the growbo are a couple don’t have any experience because they are priced above my budget

If you talking about the "cabinet " type things that cost thousands of dollars that can maybe grow 1 plant that is super stealth… .
Then no, absolutely not worth what they cost imo …
You can literally just use the closet itself and no need fir a tent really.
I use a closet and tents. .
I started with the closet, light, exhaust fan and carbon filter.
Them boxes is alot of money in a fancy box, put the money in nice light and use as cheap of box as you can find.

Totally agree with you 2200 bucks for 1 plant is ridiculous but he was asking about a fully automated grow system and if you have deep pockets anything is possible

No matter what you choose. your light is most important. Then your environment. you are very humid. so probably a small dehumidifier. there are many other things like @GreenSnek :point_up_2: said

Those grow kits listed above are more turn key kits, not automated. The grow bo has a nutrient monitor, but it doesn’t make adjustments. There’s nothing in that overpriced kit that gives the owner real control

I think automated, I think control. The ability to set parameters, create schedules, and walk away. 1 monitoring system that controls/monitors all your grow equipment. Not several controllers that don’t work with each other and take up unnecessary space. Check out growtronix
Or agrowtek grow control. They’re not cheap, but it takes a lot of the hassle away from the grow.
