RO will work, I wouldn’t do the rinse until you’re ready to plant. I personally don’t buffer the coco but drench with a full nutrient solution at 800 PPMs and plant my seedling. What nutrient brand will you be using :love_you_gesture:

The coco I’m using is Cana coco in brick form. My plan of attack was going to be using Down to Earth rose and flower dry fertilizer adding it to the coco and not having to feed every day for a month and then flip to flower with fresh coco and Cala green bloom dry fertilizer
Trying to cut out some work

And a hand full of compost and blood worms added to coco

Im new to this forum. I have 3 plants and 1 of them is showing signs of yellow leaves… root system very dense. I have just transitioned from GROW to BLOOM fertilizer as there are quite a few buds at this point. ( Frosted Raspberry). before I put too much into this note, wonder best way to post. Thanks so much

Canna coco is very reputable and shouldn’t need flushing. I would advise not using dry top dressing nutrients. Coco needs daily fertigation or at a minimum remain a good damp consistency :love_you_gesture:

Thanks , I guess it’s about the same I wasn’t going to topdress I was going to mix dry amendment s in with coco throughout the pot. But I was going to water and keep coco wet.
I seen a few videos I think it was mr Canucks where he did the same. But he used calagreen dry amendments. What would you recommend for a newbie?

I use a liquid feed that’s readily available to the roots, it comes in dry form and mixed with water. Nothing wrong with your intended method just wouldn’t recommend it for a new grower. Pay attention to your run off PPMs and PH, the PPMs will tell you when it’s time to top dress again :love_you_gesture:

I recommend not growing in coco for a newbie. But im not a very experianced indoor grower like @OGIncognito . i tried coco last winter on my indoor grow, its as close to hydro as you can get. Imo. They need consistant nutes through out the grow. I guess cal- mag is needed often as well. Its just not the same as regular soil. Ph is not buffered like a soil grow either

Thank you again for your advice much appreciated

Yes I can imagine it’s not as easy as it looks. You mentioned that I have to monitor ph of coco, that concerns me too , it’s not like pre mixed soil like fox farm or what I’m using now ( bio all and bio flower 365 that’s already buffered. I don’t know the first thing about it.
I thought as long as I keep my water Ph In range it would be
Ok. Coco just seems cleaner and easer not to build up with unused nutrients

The difference is as WB mentioned. It is hydro. As your plants grow you will water more frequently never letting the media dry completely. During peak growth you may fertigate multiple times daily depending upon the size of the pot. You are daily maintaining the PH . Its more involved than soil. I recommend growing both ways at the same time. This way you see the results and the difference in degree of involvement. Great way to experiment and ensure you will have a good result irregardless. Happy Growing

Thanks RightAway, what size pot would you recommend with coco ? I like the ideal of kind of spine feeding them every day instead of wondering if my soil is locked out because I seen no growth

I use 7gal. indoors , outdoors depends on how much money you want to spend. How tall / wide is too much ? I have 8’6" indoors and top and scrog as needed. I also veg longer than most.

8 ft 6 inch indoors ? Monsters that great for a 7 gallon pot I think

If you do your homework, as it seams you are, i think you will be successful in your efforts. Growing is fun, just keep it that way✌ i didnt do my homework, i saw i bought i did. I had no clue to rinse or buffer or to not let it dry out. I went in blind.

I don’t know anything about this but I know we’ve seen tons of people state they were following Mr Canuck and not having a great time of it. I’m sure it’s just a matter of a few minor details in most cases, but I’m glad you posted this.
