Thanks @dbrn32 @Md2 When it comes to autos. You can et away pretty much with either a sativa or indica. They both should do well. If you are going to grow in soil. I think what ever you choose will grow more towards the bushy as to tall side. I am just going off some of the autos I have seen done out doors. I would just choose a strain you think you would like. I my self really like the AK -47 or sour diesel. Both come in autos. Should you choose to use coco. You will do much better in it with autos. Or at least have bigger plants :slightly_smiling_face:

I think i might have a calcium deficiency, looking for help. Its white widow auto in FFHF with a medium dose of Grow Dots. Feeding 2x/week with water and epsom 1x and recharge with epsom 1x, pH in is 6.3 on average, i havent checked runoff since I dont need to water to runoff with the grow dots. This is my first round with the dots, its under an HLG patriot 150 light at 18/6.

I see the spotting, but not sure that is calcium deficiency. Have you been checking your water and feedings ph/ppm in and out?

I haven’t been checking ppm in or out since the dots dont require watering to runoff (so I’ve read), although i do try to get some runoff but more for consistent watering. My tap has a ppm of about 350. I’ll water to runoff next time and see what i get. I assume a little calmag would hurt either way?

I see that now :man_facepalming:t2:
I think @Graysin has the dots pretty well figured out, maybe can help you out.

Curious why you are adding Epsom (magnesium) without extra calcium?

I try

My experience says the Dots need extra calcium - I usually supplemented in the form of CalMag, but since these have already been getting a disproportionate amount of magnesium from the periodic Epsom, I wouldn’t suggest it necessarily. Calcium nitrate or another form of calcium might be better suited.

My rough understanding is there’s a ratio of 2:1 for calcium:magnesium, so it’s likely been thrown out of whack with the Dots + Epsom feedings.

I read the sulfur is beneficial during flower (epsom = magnesium sulfate), guess i didn’t consider the extra mag would throw things outta whack. I’ll stop the epsom and head to the hydro shop and see what i can get for boosting calcium without the magnesium. Thanks @Graysin and @dbrn32 :sunglasses:

I just received my seeds from you yesterday. I am in the process of germinating. Once I stick them in my tent after they sprout, do I keep the light on 24 seven? Also, what should humidity be? And the temperature?. I’m using the jiffy pods after I soak them in water for 24 hours and they will be covered with a cup. Is this correct. Thank you.

Yes; this will provide constant warmth for the sprouts.

Most everyone that’s used peat pots has hated them. A better alternative is to use a Solo cup with a gazillion holes in it and filled with a seed starter or straight coco. Something without any added nutrients as the sprouts can be easily burned by strong soils.

Here’s a good read for you to get started with. Welcome to the Fam.

For seedlings i like to keep temp similar to what i try to grow in, 80f. You want rh rather high in beginning, but just do what you can.

Local hydro dude suggested calcium alone over calcium nitrate based on the flower stage. Also realized a goof worth sharing for grow dot users…epsom is a magnesium salt and (my understanding) is that grow dots aren’t salt-based therefore no need to water to runoff, but if you’re supplementing with a salt-based product you might need to water to runoff to avoid build-up. Thanks again @Graysin @dbrn32

Where did you get info to draw this conclusion on the dots? You technically don’t have to water anything to runoff, but a lot of us just do as best practice to make sure we get a good even fill on our nutrient solution.

Week 5 of flower watered last night and fed plants woke up this morning and had yellowing leaves throughout the bottom of the plant any ideas thank you please help. Just Dr Earth bud and Bloom fertilizer tea as directed I did add more water than usual it’s the first time I ever saturated the plant you don’t think it could be over watering do you the very first time I ever oversaturated the plant and it’s not setting in water

If you have pictures and fill out a support ticket we could potentially help. Based on your description it sounds like an organic soil grow? If so, the yellow leaves didn’t happen from anything you did last night. These issues are usually building for a week or two before you see them in plants. Saturating the pot isn’t really an issue either, unless it was already wet before you watered. The roots can handle being soaked as long as allowed to dry out after. It’s constantly being wet that usually causes the issues.
