Waxwing Grows: Organic Photos

In the event that my littlest ones are at serious risk of getting rootbound or something between now and the 14th, is there anything I can do before the new soil comes in to minimize that risk without moving them to forever-homes?
Input is appreciated even- especially- if it’s critical; assuming it comes from a well-meant and competent peer, those are the voices I need most.
Keep raising the vibe out there, fellas!

That’s an excellent point; I have a feeling I used to operate with that knowledge and just plumb forgot at some point.
I’ll do something about it in the morning.

After a week away, I finally transplanted the smaller girls and gave everyone some water (this time with nutes: a small dose of Jack’s 3-2-1, my go-to).
Here’s how the tent looked this morning:

And after finally transplanting the little ones:

I’m thrilled with how well they look to have held up in my absence. Having a smoke yesterday after a little time away, the results of last grow are tasty and strong; I’d not been totally confident in its quality but now I am happy. There’s room for improvement but I’m pretty good at this.
Feels great to be back, and big things are coming!

I started germinating another seed to fill out my smaller tent- a mysterious “Sidecar” autoflower.

No signs of life from the Sidecar, despite pipetting in water every day or so. Sad. I’ll give her a while longer in case she’s just slow.

Gave the rest of the girls most of a gallon of plain water. I also adjusted restraints, did some topping, and turned on the smaller LED panel (it’s on a shared timer with the UV bar).

The four big plants are, well, varying stages of big. Here’s hoping the little Mimosa/OP plants can learn to thrive; delaying their transfer probably did stunt them. But I love them anyway.

After a week or more without a stir, the Sidecar has joined the party. I was thinking just as I walked into the tent room that today was the day to start germinating a replacement!

The newcomer will be removed to a smaller tent by herself some time soon. Meanwhile, for the four phtoperiods, the good times roll.

Everyone got some more water today, with basic nutes; for the big juicy Permanent Velvet plants, today marked round 2 of topping.

Here’s the tent with just the UV bar running:

The Sidecar has been transplanted and relocated to my 2’x2’ tent, along with the smaller light panel, whose place in the big tent has been taken by an old blurple light. We’ll see how this goes.

We’re getting big! Might need the net soon.

Things looked a bit shaky in the little tent, but now it looks like that Sidecar autoflower will be just fine.
Between the five of them they drank three gallons today.

Finally all the pieces are in place for the net.

Hopefully the little ones will grow a bit more so I can weave them in.
Meanwhile the wee Sidecar keeps on truckin.’

Hope everyone had a nice Christmas or equivalent.

This time we’re not kidding around.

Today was a big watering day- four gallons so far, including a gallon with ReCharge (that stuff is great), one spiked with Jack’s 3-2-1, and one with a bit of Tribus, a liquid probiotic. It’s about five years old and idk if it still does anything, but I might as well use it up, there’s just a wee bit left and this grow is a fine enough place to savor the last of it. When I checked for it on Amazon is was way overpriced so I suspect they no longer make it; oh well, I don’t really need it.
They’ll get another plain gallon of water once the cat finally decides it’s time to get off my lap.
Between gallons of water I did some trimming, especially to ensure minimal sub-canopy growth:

The Sidecar, while still pretty small, is robust and shows plenty of potential. Here she was pre-haircut:

and this is the look with a little of the old pluck and bend:

Looking at that phat canopy I realize these plants have been chugging along for a number of months now. When do we flip, folks? If letting them veg a while longer means significantly higher yields, I can be patient, but they also have to stay within the confines of that tent.
I could start running a dehumidifier any time, but for now the measured RH levels have been naturally comfy. My one other concern re: letting the grow run long is the higher chance of mold or other environmental/parasitic problems, but since installing the UV beam there have been zero issues of that nature. Neat tech.
This is the handsomest grow I’ve been able to call my own, and when I look at those plants and know that they are happy because my actions made them happy, it is one of life’s little triumphs.
I hope your 2026 is off to as fine a start as theirs, reader.

When I gave them that last gallon of water I pulled out some trimmers and kind of got carried away. I’m worried less for the plants than for my eyes… is it worth getting tent glasses of some sort if this is a long-term hobby?
Anyway here’s the damage:

What started as removing a few obviously awkward leaves became a quest to clear the way for as many bud sites as possible. I’ll check in the coming days to see how this plays out; for now I continue to feel just peachy.
