Watering plants inside tent

How are you watering to runoff inside your tent?

All my plants are flowering now and getting pretty top-heavy. I’ve been pulling the plants out of the tent and putting them on a 5gal bucket, watering to runoff, and letting them drain. Not sure that’s going to be possible much longer.

Looking for some ideas I guess. I never put the trellis netting up because I was taking them out.

This is how I was watering:

This was from last week. I’ve had to put stakes in one of the plants now but when I turn them to drain it’s looking like they’re ready to pull out of the roots.

I keep my pots in saucers, and use an oil extractor syringe to suck out the runoff

I go with the oven/fridge shelves. Get some good wire cutters or something else to break them off and you can just melt them onto a big plastic tuberware container or bowl. Or you could just sit them on top of your container, no need to break them up etc.

Or a pot thats slightly smaller with no drainage holes

When I water to runoff I use a hand pump to remove it…

Have drip trays under my pots and use my shop vac with the small tip to suck out the run off. If I am measuring pH, I use a large syringe like others and pull it out and put it in a small cup to do the pH test.

@Bonjoyle , I should get a small wet/dry vac and do this myself. I hate pumping out runoff. Brilliant.

I hate it too, gets to be a bit much sometimes. I bought a cheap little shopvac and it works well, still use the syringe tho, must be out of habit

Yup, I got tired of the syringe taking so long when I wasn’t measuring the runoff.

Remember to take out the paper filter when using as a wet vac.

@VBGrower this is what I use to catch my runoff. They are made by square farmer

@Bonjoyle @Spiney_norman I agree couldn’t live without mine. Being a grower I have plenty of 5 gallon buckets so I went this route

I used cheap saucers with a hole at the edge under mine. Raise the pots on a milk crates and catch runoff with a bowl under the holes.

There are lots of ways to skin this cat. I have a 4 x 4 tent so I use a 3.5 x 3.5 water table. I still use saucers under smaller pots (4x4, 1 gal, 3-gal) but once I put them in grow bags I just put them on a riser and suck the runoff out with a small shop vac…the water table funnels all the water to a couple spots. Works for me…but you cannot step into tent.

I stuck a few bulkhead fittings with hoses on my saucers. They drain into a plastic tote. This allows you to go a few waterings without messing with it. I’m extra lazy so I put a condensate pump in the tote to automatically pump water outside. Boom hands free runoff management. The pump and tote will eat up a little of your vertical space though.
