What’s the best water to use? Should I be using natural spring water or distilled for Jacks Nutrients?
I use RO (reverse osmosis filtered) water with my Jacks, cheaper than distilled and almost as pure, hard to tell what’s really in “natural spring water”. Get a TDS meter if you don’t have one and check your tap water, you may be able to use that if the TDS is not too high.
I also use RO too but some people use tap. Biggest thing imo is to make sure you bubble chlorine out and ensure your tds isn’t stupid high after you mix everything based on plant stage. i.e. in RO Jack’s comes out for me around 680.ppm. My tap is 340 ppm so if I mix them together that might be too much in early or mid veg. But honestly I would never use my water again. Cant underestimate the power of a quality water source. Jack’s also makes nutes for specific water types but you prob already know that.
I went with distilled. I do not have a source for RO and I have really hard water water and use a softener because of it. Thanks for the input, I really appreciate it.
No doubt I did the distilled Walmart run for a few grows. Amazon was doing a payment plan option for RO systems last I saw and it was like $200 bucks and easy as heck to install. I sold it to my wife like oh drinking water yadda yadda but the we actually had a kid and for real use it. So much I gotta fight to save water for my girls lol. Lemme check em out real quick. Yeah no dice but def check em out. Amazon monitors you so u know if they find u looking alot one may “mysteriously” pop up for a payment plan lol
Buying distilled will get old quickly. Especially if you are feeding frequently in coco. I would keep an eye out for ro system when you are capable of doing so. Also be critical of the quality of ro system. The low cost systems will generate a lot of waste compared to ro.
You can always take you spring water and have it tested at any well company. There’s a small charge of you want to know contents of the minerals in it
Bruh I remember those days lol having 8 gallons of water in the car . Spot on about the waste too but I had to pick my battles lol
I use RO with jacks in hydro. It does a hefty ph crash if not prepared. I use an auto ph system so I’m good but I would think it could cause problems if not monitored properly.
Tap water is just fine as long as you know the PPM’s in it. Our tap water runs over 500 PPMs and that is not good, so I use RO.
My tap is overly chlorinated and extremely heavy. Plus we have a softener system which I read is a no go for cannabis. For now it’s distilled water but I will be getting an RO system soon.
Send a water sample into a lab for a full nutritional analysis. I think Jr. Peters/Jack’s has a lab that does this testing.
Thank you, I installed an RO system. Ph of the water alone is high at 7.2. When I add Jacks it drops to 5.85.
My plants love it…they nearly tripled in size and are producing a lot of flowers. I’m looking forward to what I hope is a bountiful harvest.
Awesome, man! I’m glad its working out for you Jack’s is great!! and so is RO water
I am growing Banana Kush Auto this go around, and for the first time ever I only measure the PH and PPM’s of the water going in, and have not tested the runoff of which I have none now that the plants are so big. They are looking wonderful and I plan on doing the same unless they show me otherwise. I “blame” this on Jacks as it is so wonderful.
