Water questions

Hi all,

First time grower, and at the moment I got 5 girls outside 10-12h a day, and under a light the rest of the 18/6 schedule.

Questions about the water I’m feeding them and what do the key things mean that everyone talks about.

PH: I know this one
Temp: Self explanatory

PPM: ??? I know its part per million, but what if my water is low 200s. Well water filtered by Chlorine. ( I do dechlorinate my Water)
How would I address raising the PPM of the water I’m feeding with?

TDS meter: Does this measure PPM?

Any other tips, knowledge, or tricks involving water parameters would be greatly appreciated!

Low 200s is decent and can be ignored.

It can be accomplished by letting the water sit in an open container for 24 hours. The Chlorine will gas off.

Adding nutrients to your water will increase the PPM and decrease the pH

TDS, EC, and PPM are all different ways of measuring the very same thing - the nutrient concentration of your feed or runoff water.

The correct way to answer this question is that they are very similar but still different. Ppm and tds are the same thing BUT only at the 500 tds scale, and not the 700. Most people refer to a ec or electrical conductivity reading when referring to the amount of nutrients in the water. If using a tds meter, make sure you know the scale you are using. If using a ec reading only, make sure u convert using the 500 scale multplier. Little more to your answer but will get your head understanding a little better.

Are the plants in containers or directly in the ground?

Containers at the moment, maybe 7in plastic pot.

This was very well put, and gave me some insight now on what they are talking about.

So raise PPM due to feeding, and lowers PH so that is where I use PH up
