Water Question For Lower PH

I am a first time grower. I have 6 photo plants growing in 20 gallon pots, see pic. I am having issues getting water to PH at 6.5 or so on a scale I need to water all 6 plus want to add some more. What is best way to have the much water at correct PH? Maybe a trash can but how much PH up will a 35 gallon can need? Current PH is 4. Thanks in advance for help!

Welcome, I mix my water in 30 gal barrels. You would need quite a bit of PH up, but it’s relatively inexpensive if you by it buy it by the gal. Make sure that whatever you use is light resistant and has a lid if you plan on mixing more than one watering at a time. Are you on well or city water? What medium are you using? Do you have a PPM/EC meter to test your water?

Thanks. Good to know on light resistant container, was going to use a white one but will now line it and figure out a lid. I am on well water and it is pretty hard. I do have a PPM and EC meter. I am using Fox Farms ocean forest. Up to this point have been able to use spring water.

A cheap R/O unit would solve all of your issues and give better control of nutrients.

That was my thought. Better water will make for happier plants and fewer issues down the road.

Hydrogen peroxide will neutralize chlorine and chloramines. I put a tablespoon in every five gallons.

Folks who run RDWC generally want complete control of their nutrient load. As an example, my city water was at 550 ppm. I could only add around 400 ppm of nutrients as it is additive. Running the same setup with R/O I could provide 900 ppm of proper nutrients without running into problems.

Something you might want to look into.

I subtract the 200 ppm from my city water base. My city water has high calcium so I buy flora micro hard water so I dont end up with too much calcium. So to achieve a nutrient base of 600ppm on my system it reads 800 ppm.
I have been doing this for years. I started growing in RO what my experience is I have less water fluctuations in my tap water without any nutrient deficiencies.
I never knew peroxide removed choline i will look into that. Thank you.

Sounds like you have it dialed in. 200 ppm isn’t bad.

I buy 12% food grade peroxide by the gallon. Nothing sanitizes res and pumps like H2O2. It will aerate your res water if your going for a sterile system. It can be used as a flower safe fungicide. It can also be used to clean and remove pesticides from fruit and vegetables before consumption. Well worth having some around the house.
