VIRGINIA outdoor strain

@ezwicky The 3 outdoor plants are monster cropped off of a indoor grow and forced back into veg by 24 hour lighting for a month . This is my 1st attempt at growing this way but they are supposed get thicker and denser and be best for scrog-ing . They were off the plant the bud pic above is from .
@Cannabian all last year from fall through the early spring mixing the chicken coop droppings in the garden so it is pre heated pretty good just in case it was to hot at 1st I mixed about 30% peet moss some mykos , azos and perlite . Beaing turned all winter the garden gets almost to wet and compact . Will that bother roots like a indoor grow ?

@Cannabian do you worry about ph outdoors ? Our well water is 6.9 to 7.2 and is what we water the garden with inside they always get 6.3 will this mess with them ?

@trx we sort of took over your thread bud sorry about that . More Va. People than I would have expected on here . Thanks for starting it up

Did you soak your seeds or just put them right into the ground? I got a few replacement seeds that I feel comfortable experimenting with, and I would like to do what you did. I did start soaking them when they arrived today before I saw your post.

This is the first time I’ve planted. Just wanted to know before they go outside. The rain water pH is between 6 and 7 so that’s good. I’m going to be collecting rainwater. Totally new experience in gardening. I usually grow tomatoes and herbs, this year, potatoes and carrots in bags. The potatoes are doing great so I’m optimistic about planting weed in bags.

Have to admit I’m a little overwhelmed by fertilizers and nutrients, so I’ll be asking a lot of questions. I appreciate the help.

I soaked them via the paper towel method, but only for 24 hours. One of the four had barely cracked at that point.

I was worried about harming the taproots if I waited any longer, so they all went into the ground at that point. I didn’t worry about whether they were oriented point up or down, but I made sure not to touch them with my hands.

All four broke ground three days later, within hours of one another.

A week later, they are all essentially the same size.

It was an unusually hot May week for Virginia. Highs in the low 90’s. The plants seemed to like it, both sativa and indica.

Yes it can it can be too hot and too wet. Be careful with poultry manures. I typically scratch it in as a top dressing and leech it into the soil. You can part it out by mixing the wet soil with regular soil and some compost. Then test it to se if water sits or runs through. Cannabis is a hungry plant but doesnt like soil too hot or too wet. It prefers a humus like soil with reall good drainage. Oddly a clay based soil transformed into one that doesnt pack solid is ideal. Hard to achieve but makes healthy soil.

Uh no I dont worry about ph unless my plants arent doing well. Generally decent garden soil that has been worked for a few years and grows food crops well should be pretty healthy for cannabis. Your well water sounds ideal actually. If you use chlorine to shock your well, let that water stand in a clean barrel for at least 24 hours before you water plants.
Oh and unlike peat or coco based hydroponic media, soil buffers PH quite well. That said, use ammendments sparingly or even refrain from using them if your plants are happy.

I had a liter / quart etc… of the juice you get from the drain tray on or worm casting farm, i poured it into a 55 gallon drum of water for feeding.

I dont think I should have to give mine much if any nutrients . Last year at the end of summer I started using the tiller to turn in the hay and chicken poop every 2 to 3 weeks then at the begining of spring mixed in bone meal and blood meal 3lb bag of each . Then in the hole for this plant I mixed that hotter soil with promix peat to cut it down . It hopefully will grow into the hotter stuff slow enough not to kill it with shock .

These are the other 2 clones 1 in a 7 gal and one a 10 gal fabric pot that Im growing outside but tending it more like a inside grow . The inside grow I have going now might be my last if the outside does half as good as some of yours. I just grow for myself and a few xmas gifts . I have a feeling all my neighbors are getting prepped for july but I just couldnt wait . Its pretty private out where I live now

You may need domalite lime to mellow the ph a bit? Do you have an Agricultural extension in your area? You can have the soil tested.

Well these have been in the greenhouse since 1st week of May, and I suspect very soon they will be stacking on 1 inch a day in pretty much every direction

It ends up being a hedge that looks like this by end of July

Cannabis tourists
