VIRGINIA outdoor strain

I just went through the woman’s stash of plant care items and found a insecticidal soap spray from Safer that says it kills leaf hoppers.
We’re possibly getting a little more from Elsa before she moves off so I’ll wait till tomorrow before spraying.
I know Safer is good for spider mites - which I don’t want anywhere near my plants - so :crossed_fingers: it works as well on these pests.

I got some of that insecticidal soap spray when I saw signs of spider mites. Seems to be working. I saw a leaf hopper and shot it with a stream of soap and it died quickly.

@Tylersays Did your plants do okay when that first band of heavy rain came through?

I away from home, and the storm just passed though there… I hope my lil baby outdoors is not drowning :sob:

@AEAgain - pretty good. The wind was a little stronger than expected and I had some leaning but I had planned on using one of the tomato towers and caging it in to support the later growth so I put it on this afternoon.
I think this’ll help getting it spread out so it can breath and get that good light penetration.

I have another piece that fits on top when needed.
The tops really grew sideways once it slumped over a little with the limited light we got today. LOL

How old are your plants?

It wasn’t too bad. A first band that was heavier rain and later a slow, steady rain. Depending on where you live.

Mine are 6 weeks old. About 28" tall.

Think I may have to do a coffee table week picture book when this is done. Lol

The 2 big girls, the Granddaddy Purple’s popped through the dirt on the 15th of May. They were started in the solarium with no supplemental light. I also started 2 Super Skunk but one never popped and the other fizzled and died.
We had that crappy spring and the late cold snap so they didn’t get outside until 17th of June.

The little girls, New York Diesel, came up on June 11th and were started in the tent.
The light really helped with their development. LOL!

Yeah, we got just the right amount of rain, not too much, not too little. The one band was pretty hard but thankfully brief. We have a couple of spots in the yard that get easily waterlogged and there was no standing water, so you’re probably fine @Woodbutcher78 unless they’re in a hole or the drainage totally sucks.

Yeah, I’ve eaten a bunch of space up on the cloud with pictures.

Apparently there’s a chance of showers tomorrow. Ugg! I need the girls to dry up so I can give them some nutes and not have them totally saturated.

I have had leafhoppers on my plants since day one it seems. But a few weeks into bud after I defoliated they kind of went away… I never did see any type of damage from them. So, If you don’t want to kill them… Don’t. Just my opinion.

Yep… I found a few today, treated the girls

They didn’t do any damage to my plants … Until today :unamused:

Bastards got me!

I don’t think I should spray a bunch of liquid on the leaves during the hot, full sun part of the day, but this evening bug heads will roll!
Still don’t really see any damage to the larger girls, maybe New York Diesel is more tasty than Granddaddy Purple? I don’t know, but I do know the buck stops here.
I’m gonna see how the Safers does and if it doesn’t I’ll order the stuff I found on Amazon.

HGE!

Yea I wouldn’t do anything to them other than water the roots during sunlight…predusk or dawn is a great time to do stuff with them and most often gives me noticeable results afterwards…cloudy days are different tho :sunglasses::+1:t2:

Update: turns out it was a caterpillar that did the damage. Was about to go out earlier and checked on the girls before I left and found 2 leaves from the center cluster were drooped over, but nothing else.
I did a closer inspection and brushed my finger through the leaves and something small and black fell out.
Landed on the stem of the plant. After a second it started crawling away and I plucked it off and sent it to hell.
Because that’s where you go when you mess with somebody’s weed!
To be honest, it could have been some kind of inch worm but I really think caterpillar. It was literally the size of a grain of rice.
I decided not to spray yet.

Getting close to first harvest in Virginia. How much time should I give this to fatten up?

I would guess you have ~4 weeks or so left. How long has she been in flower?

What strain is that?

Time to get out the jewelers loupe and start looking at trichomes for color changes.
You don’t want clear ones they should at least be milky and some amber for it to be really ripe. I’ve been reading that the amount of amber equals the type of high you’re gonna get from the bud. Apparently the more amber the “heavier” the high, where more milky and less amber is more of the “uplifting” type of energetic buzz.
Have you read through the guide on the site?

When to Harvest - ILGM

I wonder if there are any youtube videos?
I haven’t gotten that far into my grow since mine are all photos and that’s all the help I can offer with my limited experience.

Looking good man! Good luck with it!

Northern Lights Auto.

It is 54 days from germination, straight into my garden. Started flowering around three weeks ago.

Not yet showing any signs of color change in the pistils, nor any clouding of the trichomes. I am checking daily.

Surprisingly, the Northern Lights is thriving in the high heat and humidity we have been experiencing. My house has missed nearly all of the passing thunderstorms lately, and things are bone dry. I’m watering every other day, making sure not to get the plants wet. No sign of rot or insects.

I would expect roughly 8 weeks from start of flower to harvest, so you do very likely have a month + left.

All of those white pistils will start to recede and darken. That is when you’ll really want to start paying attention to the trichomes. The good news is they will continue to stack and fatten up over the coming weeks!
