I live in central Florida and have been growing outdoor plants for 40+ years. This year I have plants that are 8 inches that have all started flowering already. They were started in greenhouse but move out within the first week to harden off. So they should be growing now instead of blooming. What to do?
tag a mentor. use @ and the name and someone will help. i have auto flowers and photos only my second grow so i am useless to you. welcome
If they are flowering then they must not be getting more then 12 hours of light. I’m not an outdoor grower but it’s all the same as far as light cycles and flowering. Maybe you could put a few cfl lights out by them to keep them from flowering. @AAA is my go to outdoor guy
This is most likely because they’re not getting enough hours of light. Although, there are other reasons why this might happen.
Stress can cause the plants to flower early. Small pots can cause this too (once there’s no more room for the roots to grow, it’ll begin flowering).
What else can you tell us about your plants?
Thanks @imSICKkid for the tag.
Did you have supplemental light in the greenhouse?
When did you start them?
Either
A: You strarted too early(my vote)
B: You were using supplemental lighting which made the daylight hours longer in the greenhouse.
I have found that if I start seeds outdoors earlier than April they flower then reveg.
I actually grow 4 seasons a year with mostly clones, but if I use seeds I add at least on month on the front end of these dates.
So cal outdoor grow schedule
Jan 1st = Harvest, Set out clones, Take cuts for next set of clones
March 15th = Repeat
June 1st = Repeat
Oct 15th = Repeat
That should have said “one month”
I germinated these on 3/19 so they are only one month into growing and are flowering. In all the years of growing I have never seen plants flower so early. I have them in 1 gallon containers, had no lights in greenhouse, but only had them in there 3 days. Moved them outside and they are receiving more than enough light during the day. Thank you for the responses to this post.
I would add a 100 watt CFL bulb and have it turn on 30 min before sunset and turn off at 8 ish.
But, are you sure they are not autos?
