Ventlation on my grow room

I’m completely reconstructing my grow room from a 5x5 led light grow room to a 7.5x5 with 7.5 ceiling. I’m using a high sodium 1,000watt light w/8" ventlated hood and I currently have a440 cfm Inline duct fan for venting air out and was wondering if I need to upgrade to a 8" 740 cfm to vent the air. Any advice would be great

Your room is about 280 ft³ and you have a 440 cfm fan. Without any other factors that is nearly 2x air exchange per minute. What makes this difficult is anything in the circuit will add static load and reduce the actual amount volume of air moved. Some of the higher end filters will give you data to help calculate. Duct varies by type, length, and amount and degree of bends.

Getting this exact you pretty much need an hvac guy that doesn’t mind running numbers or to physically test it. Even then, with air cooled hood im sure there is extra duct and bends change when you move it. I have resorted to buying mixed flow fans and going a size larger than simple logic tells me I need. The speed control of the mixed flow fans is nearly as good as having frequency drive. Plus they are significantly more quiet than typical inline fan, and more efficient. Down side is that they are a little more expensive, but worth every penny in my opinion.
